Don't know if I can make it for the limited showing (3 hours!) but gonna' try... I'd really like to see this puppy 'in the flesh'.

I'll pass on the looks. Don't know anything about them. Could be a fine piece of machinery for all I know but to me its ugly as sin.
I've been following them for a while now. I think they'll be a nice bike but I don't think they're going to be cheap. They claim they're going to have loads of torque. Should be interesting once they're out for production.
If they can get a dealer network together, I think they will become Harley's worse nightmare
big displacement for those that purchase with the idea that bigger is better, and the pushrod V4 sounds like a Nascar V-8, I think HD riders will give up the potato-potatoe sound

never happen. having been here at a HD dealer for only 6 months i can tell you that with a good amount of certainty if it doesnt say HD on it....they arent interested. for most people that ride, HD is at the top of the food chain. they feel its an achievement thats earned.Originally Posted by RandyO

Sounds sweet, but from what I've read it's not fully cooked yet. If they last a few years, it could be a contendah. But whose sales will they take - HD, BMW, FJR/Concours, or will Moto-Guzzi sell 50 bikes instead of 100?

Some variation on the last choice would be my guess.
GREAT sig by the way! Here's one of my favorites, similar theme:

I think the mechanical aesthetics are mostly pretty good, integral alloy master cylinders would offer a more finished look.
Considering the sport touring designation of the MST model a bit more expansive upper fairing/windshield (a' la C14 et al) would be in order, IMO.
A minimal upper fairing for the 'Sport' strikes me as appropriate... In my experience it's psychologically easier to toss and flick a machine if one doesn't have to try to 'see through' obscuring bodywork.
Even if they're absolutely great and go into full production successfully, financial reality dictates that a new Motus (or anything else for that matter) won't be moving into my garage anytime soon.
Just academic curiosity I guess.

The bike is a little on the hefty side, but the power numbers make up for it.. 160hp, 122 ft-lbs! The sound is amazing, and it's been tested on track as well as on the street for performance. I have high expectations of this bike, pricing will be it's biggest X factor... but the sound is unreal.
Can't wait to ride one.
The whole Harley lifestyle rider thing was very strange to me and one of the reasons I got rid of the Roadster. They are snobby about the purchase price, but most are blue collar workers and take out loans to buy the bike. They're anti-establishment but all wear the same clothes. Serious group-think. The parts folks were helpful, though.

If this Motus is as good as it appears, It could get a parking space in my Garage.
I was in, but I have a hockey game, so now I'm out. Keep us posted!

I'd planned to go with my brother for two weeks.
Spoke to him this morning, he'd forgotten about it and wifey made other plans for him... needless to say he can't escape.
So I'm not driving all the way up there alone in end-of-workday traffic...

I just spent 8 hours tending to chronically dysfunctional people within a chronically dysfunctional system staffed largely by chronically dysfunctional or grossly under functioning people.... alone in a crowd.
Taking the trip solo only to stand around in more collective isolation?
That makes it way up there.
Nah, think it's better to stay home and talk with my dogs.

Here's an update I received... STILL waiting ($$$...?)
2011 is a wrap, onwards to 2012!
Motus is an expression of human will. The will to build bad-ass motorcycles in the most unlikely of times. The will to help America retain her place as a premier manufacturing country by crafting machines with character and quality. The will to fight to make sure our best days lay ahead.
Since first revealing prototypes in March, we’ve been steadily testing, refining, and promoting the MST’s all over the US in preparation for a mid-2012 production launch. So far, so good. Three prominent journalists have written favorably about their test rides and provided useful feedback to our engineers. See interviews with Alan Cathcart and Blake Connor after riding the MST and MST-R.
Everything learned from this process is being built into a 3rd generation of MST’s that have a number of improvements and new features not yet revealed. Then, we will complete final testing/certification and begin shipping to dealers as soon as possible.
Pricing, accessories, and availability.
Parts quotes are being finalized now based on the estimated 2012/2013 production volume. We will release MSRP’s soon and we thank you for your patience. The MST will come standard with an excellent feature set and based on customer and dealer requests, units will ship with optional accessories such as heated grips/saddle, sport or tour style windscreens, extra Powerlet ports, upgraded wheels/brakes/suspension. Motorcycles and aftermarket engines will be sold through authorized dealers and will be shipped on a “first come-first served” basis, based on the reservations being made by dealers and customers now. We have signed some of the best dealers in the country, but are still looking for representation in a number of markets. Please tell your favorite dealer if you are interested in a Motus!
Come see us at the Battley Cycles booth (#1432) at the IMS Show in Washington, DC (January 13th-15th)
Dealers- we will be at the 2012 Dealernews International Powersports Dealer Expo the Indiana Convention Center (February 17th-19th)

Ken Condon posted this on Facebook. Maybe he can fill us in. The other bike is that other "rare bird" the Suzuki V-Strom.

Was always intrigued with this bike.

It's a truly awesome machine. I testrode one in April, and was *very* impressed. I genuinely could see myself buying one at some point.
