I did my gas milage yesterday.. I'm only getting 30mpg
Is this cause I only have 600 miles? Is the motor still breaking in? Or is it just cause its a liter bike?
I ride conseretive most of the time I hammer on it occasionally.
I use to get 40 mpg's on my 02 zx6r that was highway driving at 80mph and rpms were 8k rmp range.
What do you all ride and what do you get for MPG's?

03 Tuono, almost 40mpg's if it's all highway & I'm taking it super easy.
John, wtf's an RZ1? You ride a drum machine?

30MPG on a liter bike that isn't an RC51 doesn't sound like you are riding it conservatively. I average around 32MPG on my 12R but I've seen as high as 40 on a tame highway commute to as bad as 22MPG when having fun in back roads.
My SV650 averages around 42-46MPG when I ride it and about 55MPG when my wife rides it.

Used to get an average of 55mpg on my Ninja 500, so far am getting about 42mpg on the SV.
Ian, my 07 R1 has a similar engine size. I get about 21 MPG. Almost ran out of gas yesterday after 100 miles.

Seems O.K. to me. When I almost ran out of gas, I was on reserve for about 8 miles before I got gas. Liter bikes are just pigs for gas at times depending on conditions.

Last tank on my 06 R1 I got 47mpg commuting. I've squeezed 200 miles out of a tank when I had my 04 R1...but my best sportbike I've owned on fuel was the 1998 R1 I had, 50-52mpg was pretty common with that bike.
Of all the R6's I had, they all seemed to get about 40 except for the 06 which was in the 35-38 range.
You're not riding a liter bike conservative if you're getting 20-30mpg with it![]()
Yamaha
49-62 (lol @ first fill-up during break-in)
pretty consistently 50-52 as of the last like 10 fill-ups though
hurray, strikethrough!

I ride a TL-R so obviously I don't give a fuck about MPG's. Before that, I had a Superhawk so obviously I don't give a fuck about MPG's. SMILES per gallon, my friend. Smiles per gallon...
Did you grit your teeth and try to look like Clint Fuckin' Eastwood?
Or did you lisp it all hangfisted like a fuckin' flower?
~42mpg on the Strada riding the way I ride...

I am more concerned with range than mpg, I tend to ride in places where gas stations are scarce
my SV would give me anywhere from 100-160 miles on a tank of gas, my V-strom gives me 200-230
and when your out in deliverance country with a flashin fuel light, riding with a couple of yahoos with haircuts.......

I average about 120 miles on a tank 3.7 gallons. I guess I average around 30. Its an 04 f4i. Figured Id get better than that.
i get about 110-120 riding like an asshole (the way i normally ride) and 130-150 being nice. at break in i saw 170. 03 SV1KS

there are a few considerations that go into gas mileage:
-is your bike maintained and tuned properly?
-do you short shift and keep your rpm's low?
-do you let off the gas when you see a stop approaching?
-what is your tire pressure?
also, with a liter bike designed for performance in mind, gas mileage will suffer at the expense of going fast
but since you asked, I usually get 42-45mpg (but 49 recently) around town and I've gotten as good as 52.5mpg doing all-highway back from the big big long long long thing...on a '95 carb'd FZR600
