do you guys end up with many new riders that haven't bought bikes yet and/or don't have insurance yet? i wouldn't mind exchanging cards with you guys so we can help each other out. when i'm writing a policy for someone that hasn't done msf, i can send them your way. you have students that need insurance, send them my way. naturally i don't want to step on any toes so if you guys can't direct business my way (to a specific insurer) as per msf, that's cool i understand. either way, i need to get some of your cards. i can probably drum up some work for you easy enough.

I am pretty excited, and more than a little nervous. Sometimes having all those bikes out on the range seems absolutely insane. As a library director, I wonder about things like the safety of giving people pointy scissors.
Overall, though, I'm pretty psyched about it. Pretty much everyone I have ever really admired as a motorcyclist, the people I have looked up to as great riders, were either Coaches or racers or both. I am glad to have made it, in at least one sense.
Paul, I think I am on as an assistant you in May. The weekend of May 8, I think. For me, this is some sort of SRNE Waybak Machine with you, Ken and Dave.
Me: "Normal people wouldn't do this."
Peter: "First you have to operationalize with normal is."
We have riders who bought the bike, and then had it delivered to the house. And then got the permit and are taking the class.
And a few didn't make it. In fact, one didn't get past Exercise 2. And that shiny 883 most likely was sold.
Putting his hands in the air, like he just doesn't care.

Nah, I blew it. We were 24 strong for the class session on Friday night. Saturday and Sunday the 24 were split up 12/12 morning/afternoon. Over that weekend, morning lost 6 or 7, afternoon lost 6 or 7, don't remember which. Like it matters. We hadda main dood and he had a helper, and a runner changing the dots around between exercises. A couple of em just up and split, the rest crashed or screwed up twice. Sandwich and a road map and a tee-shirt. At close to $400.00, that hadda hurt, no? All that dough and no ticket.![]()
It was run by a company called APEX. The bikes were shit, the course was shit, the peeps running the show were golden. It was a bone of contention around here when peeps asked what I thought of MSF. Bein' the dickhead I am, I told the whole tale, teeth, hair and asshole of the situation and some of the MSF folks here thought I was F.O.S.. So'k. But APEX was crappola. True P.O.S. whatever the price.
But that was N. Virginia. I was under the gun to get my ticket. I passed, but that doesn't give THOSE mopes a pass. If the MSF peeps up here are golden, fine. But down there, the program is crap. Nonetheless, I got my ticket, rode my C-14 up from D.C. now, bum that I am, while everyone else is at work I squid my way across New England Scot-free from one end to the other clear out to Canada and back. Life is good. Been doing this shit for over 30 years on many bikes without goin' down, so what could *I* possibly know?
MSF means well, but by region by region, the whole thing is a little spotty. Especially down South.
I know that. And the instructors make crap money, the whole thing is unfair, and if it weren't for the Docs and Deggs, there wouldn't BE an MSF. I don't say it was better to learn like I learned, hardscrabble, but jeez. Down there, it's a profit-mongerin' thang.
Ah well. It's a subject all wore out. Sorry I opened my yapp.![]()
