Good way to check up on your visual acuity while riding. Or a good way to just burn some time.

Set the speed to "Fast," that's when the fun begins.
I used to do that all the time when I first started riding...
That was cool.....thanks Smurf
Definitely cool.. I did it on fast.. I got all the signs right but did quite poorly on the collision one...
Of course the collision ones seem to fall into the same MSF pattern.. they give you a scenario, they give you 3 right answers, and then they decide 2 of the right answers are wrong for the purposes of the test.
Thanks. That was a good refresher! I only did it on Medium cause I was scurred.

Did good on the trap one, not so good on the street signs. Then again If I am going that fast that I only see the sign warning me of the potential issue ahead of me for fraction of a second its probably a little to late to slow down and deal with it![]()

I would have to agree with this statement. I did well, but that just makes me a good test-taker.
I am one of those folks who does not value MSF courses as much as others seem to.
If you want to ride well, ride a dirt bike for a couple of years, and get really good at it before you take to the streets.
Instincts
Experience
Guidelines (eg formal rider training)
...all combined will make he best possible rider.
While I do "value" the MSF course philosophy of accidents are usually attributed to rider error.
I disagree with the "leave plenty of space to react" or the "courteous motorcyclist" Sometimes you must be assertive, or the safe zone you create will be come an oppourtunity for another driver.
This is where disagree with the Vegas strip scenario . One of the other posters said it best. They give you 3 right answers and they pick the "right" one.

Skill plays a very small part in street survival compared to risk recognition & response... if you have good street knowledge then in theory you won't ever need those superior dirt riding skills.
With that said, yes, there can be multiple responses to each scenario.
And yes, the MSF obviously favors defensive riding.

This is actually used in the MSF MSRC (Military Sportbike Riders Course) Pretty funny to watch all the students freak out when they flash on the screen.

OK so never heard of "Chevron Alignment Signs", or seen some of the other signs.
yeah, i did it on fast. the signs were no problem. but the collision one... there were some things i just plain missed but most of those were sign related. who gives a fuck about a no trucks sign..i was looking at the mass of pedestrians on the right and traffic.
...and one of the "escape questions" said the corrct answer was go left...but you are in the left lane, go left where into oncoming traffic??
BUMP
Weather's getting better, riding season's gearing up, time to freshen up the visual acuity skills...
ya apparently i dont know my signs... then again i have never seen more than half of them. seems like i would get pulled over in vegas for missing a sign...
but atleast i would be able to avoid accidents!
Im a God when it comes to street riding. Its nearly impossible for others to hit me.
There are really only 2 things I fear the most when driving and its on the highway.
1. 18 wheelers blowing tires
2. A car beside me blowing a tire.
Other than that ( of course there are some miracle exceptions) I have never in all 30K miles of motorcycle driving never came close to an accident from someone else.
When Im alone on an open stretch of road however......... lets not go there
Its weird, after awhile you can start to read drivers
for example a driver about to pull out, you notice how far he is sticking out.... the condition of the car..... is he rolling or not ? is there a small gap in the next lane for him to shoot across infront of you ? is he blind ? etc..![]()
