Heres a prime example of why I do not like cops.

(this is somewhat old news, but the video is as of today)
So for those too lazy to click the link, its about a cop who pulls over a biker, as soon as he is pulled over, the cop goes for his gun and shoots the guy in the back. The bullet hit his spine and paralyzed him from the waist down. I dont understand why this power tripping cop felt the need to even go for his gun immediately, let alone shoot the guy without thought. That video makes me really pissed![]()

I really dont know how to word this and I hate to drag the whole military thing into it but for me to shoot someone i have to be 51% sure that the other person could harm me before shooting. Im sure this sort of instance happens all the time but this time it just so happen to be a biker.
jesus christ.. lots of poor decisions in that video. riding without gear, speeding away from a police officer, losing control of your bike, running from the police.. and the officer.. well, he jumped the gun (literally). from the video i can see that the guy was just turning around to look at the police cruiser.. the officer made a huge mistake.

wow. he was way outta line! he was clearly not a threat![]()
He went for his gun because it was someone running. It was not a normal traffic stop anymore, it was evasion. That is normal, and should be.
Him shooting the guy? Fucked if I know, I wasn't there but it sure looks like he shot an unarmed man in the back.

I can resist everything but Pete's mom.
Whoa guys. Take a look at the video again. No one was running. The officer didn't put his lights on until after the guys took off from the stop sign. No evasion. He pulled over and was waiting for the cop at the stop sign.

Although I agree. It sure as hell looks like the cop shot him in the back. Pretty F'd up.

this video is pretty disturbing on many levels like the cop shoots the rider, then yells "put your hands up", is that suppose to happen in reverse? In any case I'm not a fan of leos or anyone else who is armed and standing behind me.
When I'm pulled over I put my hands on my sides where cop can see them.
Kinda like the U.S. Marshalls chasing bad guys. "Knock knock, bang-bang, here's the warrant, ooops you're already dead".
But the Marshalls, I get.
i know a lot of good cops, even a few that ride and are on this site.
However there are a LOT of retarded power tripping idiots that are cops too

This is kinda like that other video from Maryland, except this time the guy actually used the gun! The only time I've ever been stopped on my bike I put my hands up like I was being robbed, just because I had this nagging feeling that the guy stopping me might do something like this. I guess that fear wasn't totally unwarranted...

Well at least he lived. And given the circumstances, probably will own the dept now.
The VSP woulda just killed him. Then the governor would have given them awards.
time compression and adrenaline, lots of it there…sucks for all involved.
So shooting an unarmed person in the back is considered assault now? Seems like a pretty light charge, all things considered.
Disclaimer: At this time I have not seen the video because work won't update Adobe player.
It's definitely an assault, of his spine.
I was thinking more along the lines of attempted murder/ manslaughter.
What would be the charges if the tables were turned and the perp shot the cop in the back? It wouldn't be some weak assault charge, felonious or not, that's for sure. Interesting how that works, eh?
The only thing that I can see in that video that may have spooked the cop was the rider's right hand stays against his side near his waistband. Maybe the cop thought he had a gun in his waistband. But I didn't see any kind of aggressive or threatening motions at all.
I can't help but wonder if the shot being fired was unintentional/negligent, a result of poor trigger discipline perhaps, and he has a better chance of acquittal if he claims it was intentional and justified.

Heres a condom. I figured since youre acting like a dick, you should dress like one too.
Wow...
...rarely am I unable to find something in these sort of videos that could provide an explanation, no matter how far fetched, that could account for what happens.
In this one, I'm really hard pressed to see any possible excuse for what occured.
I generally like cops. They have a tough job and most of them are highly trained and very professional. Sometimes I get what I deserve and often just get a warning. But, I never anticipate being shot.
That was fucked....
