hey guys. i just picked up new bike an 03 r1. i am pleased all around except for one thing that is bothering me.
after hard accleration, if i take my hands off the bars to stretch the bike goes into a nasty head shake almost like a tank slapper.
what can be the cause of this?
the tires look pretty worn down. especially the front. i am convinced that it is the tires but do you think the suspension is altered or the front fork legs have been adjusted (two knobs in the middle of the handle bars)
and my 2nd part of this question is im looking at tires on dennis kirk online so id figure id have them in later this week.
anyone know of a reliable place to get the tires mounted and balanced.
only places i know is parkway cycles in everett, ma who wants 90 dollars for both tires but i think thats only if u buy the tires through their sales department and cycles 128 wants 85/hour a wheel.
and parkway you gotta book a spot in like 2 weeks or come down saturday morning first come first serve.
anybody know any local, privately owned shops where i can bring the tires down, have this crap banged out quick out painless not costing me an arm and a leg?

micron slip on exhaust
it's the tires my 02 did and 04 do the same thing.

"Molon labe"
if you want the bike to turn better put a 180 on the back instead of a 190

check the stickies, the ones that say "tire mounting" at the top of the forum
as for head shake, is the front wheel lifting? hard acceleration AND hands off bars.... interesting
needs more chrome?
was the po a stunta'?
check the steering stem bearings and the triple tree for cracks.
next would be steering damper setting
fork tubes
wheel alignment front to back

Tires would be my guess too.
I prefer a 180 55 rather than a 190 50 too.
I used to be a swmototires customer, but I found better deals on eBay and it's not like I was using swmototires for their awesome customer service....
