I just took the Hawk out on it's first street voyage in years unknown. Needs to be tuned. Probably bump the mains since I have uni pods and what seems to be a cored exhaust. I know it's a 132 for the rear forget the front. But sure it needs to be bumped.
Very nimble little machine. Makes me love twins all over again. But man can you feel the 100+ horse I'm giving up over my inline 1k
But she sounds soooo sweet I think I'm in love

That thing will look sweet once you drop that headlight down about a foot![]()
You're both probably right. But after working damn near every spare second I had at this project for the last several weeks to make it a street bike again. I think I will go hang my self for making the headlight to high. Or maybe I will just not give a fuck since what I have gone threw to get here has been quite a feet. Plus it works great in the current location for my gauge and all the switches and lights that will be there eventually.
But thanks for the feedback either way.

Man, that pipe is right at your knee.. You gettin' another?
I dont know how many people know about it but Stoneman needs to post a pic of the REAL shakedown.![]()
Thank you. It still has a long way to go though.
Yes different. That's the way I like it. I want people to look at it and say WTF is that? And I can say well it's a little bit of everything! SV throttle and controls on the right, F2 tank with a Harley petcock and filter, Monster seat and tail light, F3 forks, VFR rear wheel, custom headlight, Acewell gauges, and various one off bits.
And yeah the dash is gonna have a few idiot lights and switches and maybe another gauge or two.
I hate you Chuck. I'm never gonna here the end of that.
I do agree in the dual headlights. They look cool. But it seems a lot of people are running them on hawks. Plus I have never seen anyone with the light I have on there.
It's the stock pipe right now. Over the winter I'm gonna make it a shorty tucked right under the engine.

Very nice looking bike, although I do agree with the other posters on the headlight.

So I got to put a decent amount of miles on her yesterday. I did bump the mains from 13/136 to 155/158 and it made a HUGE difference. Still could use some fine tuning but it is a lot nicer now.
My impressions after about 200 miles yesterday.
It is very nimble.
I can throw it around without even thinking or trying.
It makes me smile at only 10-20 over and not triple the limit.
The gearing is a bit tall.
I tried my hardest to break 100 and only hit 95.6and ran out of room.
The F2 tank is very narrow and need stomp grip.
She is NOT an all day riding bike.
My inner thighs are sore from trying to grip such a narrow tank, or from throwing it around so much, or just cause I'm fat.
I WILL have to bring her back to the track to give a proper beating
After beating her for hours yesterday I'm still near 60 MPG![]()

SWEET. Yea, I cannot believe how quickly the stock Hawk turns. It flicks faster than anything I've been on. This little flicking small HP machine is beginning to make me become a hooligan. The evil just wants to pour out of me when I’m on it.

loving my hawk... still needs some tweaking and a lot of cleaning up, but its fun to ride, the new exhaust I put on roars too. good stuff
I like where you're going with it, but I have to agree with the others on the headlight. I think it'll look a lot better with a set of the aztek8 duals.
OK here goes my apples to oranges comparison.
Hawk vs FZ1
Corners
Hawk will flick back and forth with no effort at all.
Fz1 is fairly quick but no contest to the hawk
Hawk is tough to regain corner speed if you need to let off for a second.
Fz1 always has power on tap and will spit y off the highside right quick if you don't show it respect.
The hawk is way more forgiving mid corner if you need to readjust
The fz feels like it almost takes an extra second to think about the input before it reacts.
Comfort
The FZ1 wins hands down. This is even after building the suspension for the track. Switching to clip-ons and reforming the seat to a more aggressive position.
The Hawk has a monster seat which is pretty nice, but needs memory foam. The F2 tank is very narrow and needs stomp grip.
Go-Fast
1/4 mile
Hawk 12.89 FZ1 9.81 (dyno drag)
0-60
Hawk 3.95 FZ1 2.90
60-80 top gear roll on
Hawk yes FZ1 3.12
80-100 roll on
Hawk no FZ1 5.03
Fun factor
Hard to say which is more fun. I guess I have had my fizzy for so many years I have a soft spot in my heart for her. She is heavy and ugly. But has never let me down after all the abuse I have thrown her way. The hawk is a hoot to just throw around and ring her neck. But after more than a few hours she leaves me squirming for a better seating position. I need to bring them both to a track day and really get to the bottom of this
EDIT: It will look a little closer to normal when I get a fender put on!
