Do I usually just ride with jeans, boots/riding shoes, helmet, jacket (leather) and gloves. Do you guys do the same or have special riding pants? I am all for protection but at the same time cant see me in leather pants for street haha. Thought I would see what the general consensus is here.
depends on the ride/day
jeans, text pants, leathers
sneakers, military over the ankle waterproof boots, A* race boots
and average tuesday bike night i'd wear jeans and the military boots mostly...sometimes squid it up with sneakers
Define the ride. a commute to work, shooting over to see friends or a few hours on the backroad twisties.

These were $40 and they have been worth 10x that as they've saved my knees a few times. Always dress for the crash.
Add supertechs, Vanson jacket, helmet along with gloves and you're ready for combat.

ALL THE TIME
Dress for the crash, not for the ride. I can't tell you how many times I've seen someone wearing short pants on a motorcycle.

Ah yes good point. Normally just either riding around town with nothing better to do looking to see if any of my friends are out or just commuting to work. Also when they are roads I know that are twisty the riding may be a bit more spirited. I am not a fan of highway riding or anything. I think that covers the majority of my riding there.
Jeans for commuting. Leather for spirited. If I have jeans on, I'll behave. I feel naked with jeans on.

Nice Dove, I like the idea of the under the jeans protection. Also to clarify I ALWAYS have my Aplinestars One-O-One riding shoes, Shoe RF-1000 helmet, on with a leather jacket and gloves on (Alpinestars Black Label Ice jacket and Alpinestars SP-1 gloves on order at the moment, big reason by my bike still only has 23 miles on it). Just trying to see where I can improve here. I may need to look into a jacket when it is REALLY hot out though... maybe one with a full perforated front or something... dont really trust textile materials to hold up but I am just going by what I have heard. Dont know anyone personally who has gone down wearing textile.
I was looking at the riding jeans made by some companies (like Icon) that are thick denim with reinforced areas but dont know how they would hold... but I would assume would shred on any higher speed laydowns.
Can you guys post up what you wear for more spirited street riding? Links preferably since I am at work and a lot of things are blocked that are hosted on most photo sharing sites.
Shorts and flip flops.
But now that it is getting colder I wear long johns under my shorts...

I always wear my A* raceboots, over the cuff racing gloves, full face helmet, and usually an armored mesh/leather jacket. The jeans are my weak point....I don't have proper riding pants. And girls jeans aren't made rugged, they have all that fake spandexy stuff in them now....I do feel a bit insecure in them for the most part.
I wear Jeans, Shoes, Full Face Helmet All the time... My Riding Jacket If It Isn't To Hot Out....

i just picked up some Icon Arc Mesh pants...ce knee armor for me after the granite curb incident![]()
Well you are a girl and since jeans arent a lot of protection I vote that you just ride with boy-shorts... I think its a good idea, who is with me on that?!
Haha... but seriously I know what you mean I am kind of in the same situation where I see that as my weakest part of gear... next to upping my shoes to a pair of race boots...
F textile, go with this. Breathes like a tshirt, protects like a leather jacket.
I can't even begin to tell you how comfortable and well ventilated this jacket is. Bonus...I've never gotten more compliments on a jacket and I believe it's the most inexpensive one I own.

Would you feel more secure if you were in my pants? I mean, wait, that came out wrong. Would you feel more secure if you were in my pants? DAMMIT I did it again. Wear mens pants when riding, you dont ride to get attention do ya? Then who cares how you look.
Anyway, anyone have a pair of the Slider jeans or Icon? Recommend them? Ive been debating getting a pair for a while, but havent gotten around to it. I'm not a leather trousers kind of guy
I used to have a pair of men's jeans primarily for riding to avoid the spandexy-material conundrum that jro is experiencing. i now have a pair of joe rocket ballistic 5.0 textile overpants that i wear for cold weather, spirited rides, or just long, unpredictable rides. they have knee armor, hip reinforcment, and they fit nicely and comfortably over work pants or jeans, and are water resistant. the only downside is they aren't that great for 2-up riding, but i dont do that much anyway.
i still wear just jeans if i'm putting around town

If you run into a wall with a helmet on, you still ran into a wall.
my buddy uses the icon pants...there is no armor in them but they are heavier with some abrasion panels...personally i think you need some armor to protect those skinny bamboo legs haha
I don't find baggy jeans comfortable though.... and its happened before when I was wearing some baggy jeans that they got caught on the kickstand when I went to put it up and almost tripped myself, not cool. Oh and obviously the only reason I ride is for the attention, thats why I have those super stylish 70's second hand rack racing leathers, so all the boys will be all up ons
question about the pants with knee armor already in them- do they move around on you, float away from the knee? I've heard complaints that the built in armor on some pants don't sit in the right spot or actually move upon impact, making them sort of useless.
buy some icon field armor?
they don't move around on me unless the whole pant shifts. sometimes they ride up, but a quick lift off the seat and shake generally does the trick....and thats only after like 2 nonstop hours. i find that the knee armor is a little high for me, but still firmly around me knee, and i dont think they would move in a crash,t hough i have never crash-tested them fortunately. i, like you, have slightly longer than average legs for my height, so they may fit you the same way. though i think you would probably need the next size down, you are welcome to try them on next time i see you - the leg lengths are similar.
