The bike: 2004 Suzuki Bandit
Rear Tail / integrated turn signal (LED)
front turn signals are incadecent bulbs.
Rear tail/signals lights there is a left and a right. 5 wires...
1) left signal+(yellow LED left side),
2) right signal+(yellowLED right side),
3) Ground-,
4) running lights+(dim redLED),
5) brake light+(bright red LED)
The front two signals have a positive+ and negative- each. (simple!)
So... With ONLY the back hooked up, everything works fine.
and with ONLY the front hooked up, it works fine.
but when i hook BOTH OF THEM UP.... the left signal is all funky in the rear. The left LED rear blinker will flash, but zig zag with the right running light.... funky funky! Right signal still works fine, as well as emergency flashers.
HERE IS THE CATCH.... the front left wire harness has 3, YES THREE! wires! ??!!
Has the red (+), the black w/ white stripe negative (-), but then there is a third solid black wire! What does this wire do? I've tried hooking it up in parallel with the + and - of the front lights, and also grounded it... nothing's fixing the issue... but it has to be this 3rd wire... because they both work fine by themselves (front vs. back) but not together.
My guess is that the 3rd solid black wire is for running lights of the signals? no idea really, it was over a year ago that i took the stock lights off and put flush ones on, and it was 6 months ago that i switched to street fighter, and hated plastics all together.
Help!

Did they come with a ballast resistor? I had similar problems when I installed some LEDs, they draw a lot less and need a resistor to compensate. Don't know if that helps at all. Nice bike!
Yes, it did come with the resistors, but they were the "inline" type that you spliced into the signal wires. I like the faster blink speed, but with the incadecents up front, it slows the speed down a bit. But still goes zig zag with the left side. Left also being the one with that extra 3rd black wire.
And thanks for the compliment![]()
Are you sure that the front is hooked up correctly?
I have an integrator kit and before I installed it I put flush mounts in front. They worked the way they should.
Then I installed the integrator and it was fuked. I had to swap some wires around up front to get it to work properly.
Also like noted a resistor will have to be used to get the flash rate correct and possibly could be screwing with the integrator.

No, they are incadescent bulbs up front, and no integrator.
But you have an integrator in the back, thats where mine is and I had a problem with the rear because of the front.
As for the front having 1 extra wire, are you sure that both side don't have 3 wires? Most bikes have dual filament bulbs and would need 3 wires.

there has to be a third (black) wire for the right side running light somewhere, maybe you cut it short when you swapped them a year ago? Its there somewhere I'm sure.
something is most likely wrong in the front. why you have 3 wires on one side and not the other is beyond me unless some one changed something. 3 wires means that the front blinkers are also running lights (meaning they are on all the time) which would be weird since most suzukis dont do that..its a yamaha/honda thing. you gonna just have to try all the possible combos of those wires in that blinker until they work right. i had the same problem with my girls bike. everything worked fine until i hooked up the fronts![]()

Did some research and found out the 3rd wire is for running lights, but not used in the US model. The factory harness is what i use, and the harness has 3 wires on the left side, but only two wires on the right. So, i'm pretty sure there's something screwed up in the integrated LED rear blinker thing-a-muh-jig. Oh well, i can live with it. I guess it will be an "attention" getter when i'm turning left. It operates normally when i'm on the brake as well.![]()
Wouldnt Solid black be ground?
I made it myself with 3M non-slip tape. I can make you one if you have $10 paypal![]()
