Seems nissans newest commercial for the juke consists of it running down motorcyclists in a CG enviorment for no other apparent reason than to half heartedly explain why it has a weirdly shaped center console. Kind of a screwed up premise

I can't even begin to recognize how that center console is "inspired by motorcycles" or whatever they claim.
worst commercial I've ever seen.
"When there's a gap you either commit yourself as a professional racing driver that is designed to win races or you come second or you come third or come fifth, and I'm not designed to come third, fourth, or fifth. I race to win, and if you no longer go for a gap that exists, you're no longer a racing driver."
Ayrton Senna
holy crap! was that a car advert?!?!
There’s just engineering, skill, and luck.
-1988 Kawasaki Ninja 750 - sold
-1997 Honda CBR600F3 - sold
-2011 Ducati Streetfighter S - current
That's cause you weren't born yet when this was out:

Seriously, I think the guy in the ad looks familiar, or maybe it was Kurtwood Smith from That '70s Show first acting gig - Prophetic and all.

Worst commercial ever. Also almost pointless.

"..may lead you to wonder.."
Yeah, not really.
"..the stuff of legend.."
Hey, the motorcycle exhaust sound effects were kind of cool.
Why are they promoting a motorcycle-esque center console?? I guess Jordan's will be designing a jetski-esque dining table?? And the whole idea that the motorcycles are the bad guys, WTF??? I guess those weren't Hondas...
Yea. I always wanted a motorcycle fuel tank in between the seats of my car. And what "motorcycle fuel tank" is that console supposed to look like, exactly? A Montessa Cota?
So it was designed by nissan canada's ad agency. I wonder what the boys at Nissan USA have to say about it.
Sent this message to NissanUSA through their website.
"I am a former Pathfinder owner('96) who has always had good things to say about Nissan. Am currently thinking about my next car, which we will purchase in March of 2012 and one of the cars on our short list is the Juke. However, I was recently alerted to a new ad for the Juke. I viewed it online so don't know whether it is scheduled to air or be web only. The specific ad explains the shape of the Juke's glove compartment and shows motorcycles as the Juke's prey. All I can say is that as a motorcyclist I find that ad to be incredibly distasteful. You show the Juke literally running down motorcycles. While I understand the ad is not to be taken literally, that is a very dangerous image to portray. Imagine just one of the millions of people who might see that ad thinking it might be fun to go after his or her "prey". I understand hyperbole and try not to take every bit of media pushed in front of me that seriously, but can tell you that watching that :30 piece has damaged the Nissan brand in my mind and moved the Juke way to the bottom, if not off, my short list."

I can imagine the board meetings now. They are probably in full on crisis mode.Originally Posted by ranette

Maybe they're just here to share knowledge, and some moron saw this commercial and starts an intergalactic war! I'm boycotting that product!

To be fair, I do appreciate ranette letting Nissan know how he feels. I think the commercial is in slightly bad taste.
Problem is, this type of imagery feeds on people's desires to be something they are not. You can be cool and live an exciting life if you buy this vehicle. Wrong, you are still going to go home sit around and do nothing productive with your life. But you'll be driving an ugly stupid looking car. Marketing no longer sells a product, it sells a perceived lifestyle.
And if offends a very small percentage of the population (motorcyclists), who cares....
I'm sure you can all find better stuff to cry about.
It's all water under the bridge, and we do enter the next round-robin. Am I wrong?
I wish KingCast had seen this ad. Just sayin.
