OFFERINGS TO THE GOD OF SPEED

Last summer I wound up at the Gilmore car museum in MI and it was EPIC. It was like real life Gran Turismo, just the sights, sounds, and the vibe. They had a separate motorcycle section and in it they had a replica old motorcycle workshop.

I pretty much always mod stuff, push the limit, ride a lot, and things are bound to break and I have always kept them.

I fell in love with this shelf in that replica garage and I am making my own copy of it.

Got a bunch of old wood from a friend

Removed all the screws and nails and lightly pressure washed it

I dubbed mine "the wall of shame"

One of the items is my infamous 6 tooth? sprocket off my DRZ. Worked half decent until the end.

Other item is a tire than I worn through one set of cords and onto the second set to get back home and get it off. Ran out of tire 100 miles away while riding 2 up. The 2 up weight wore through the end of life a lot quicker. Passenger rode on the other bike when I rode back home.

Also there are failed clutch forks, grenaded clutches and other things. Not all due to my work per se..

Is this just going to be for your stuff or are you accepting tributes?

still plenty of life in that sprocket, One of my SV650 front sprockets is at the service desk at Rochester Motorsports, no teeth, just bumps that look like cam lobes, I had to be easy with the clutch to get it moving, engine braking, etc. noticed the condition on a two-up ride a hundred miles from home

One of the local shops near me in Vermont has a glass case as their counter at the service department. Inside the glass case is "Parts that gave their life in the pursuit of speed"

I was ripping some reclaimed 6x6+ timbers for a project and was wondering why there was so much smoke and it was going slower than the others... Started checking the rest with a magnet.

SLoooowwwww going, I wanted my daughter to do the writing, she is the artist of the family, but try getting a 12 year old to do anything these days....

Well, it was nice out yesterday and I told her I would just have my wife do it and that lit a fire under her ass and she finally did it. I am SO pumped how it came out!

Now I just need to get someone to hang it....

Got a friend to hang it up for me, finishing out the project. I am VERY happy with how it came out

What's the story behind each part? Also is that a meta picture of itself on bottom right?

Ok, the two photos are of the original at Gilmore Car Museum in Michigan, so not meta, just figured it would be easier to explain to people if they asked where it came from.

    Starting top left:

-2.5L Subaru piston, grenaded. When I went big turbo, I didnt move the boost reference on the 3 port boost solenoid for an external wastegate. Boost spiked twice on the dyno to over 40 psi. Motor lasted a week, popped around Burlington VT on a Sunday on my way to a windfarm for the week for work.
-Cylinder from my sons TC50, they need a top end around 100 hours.
-A broken truck axle, the friend who gave me the old wood gave it to me to add to the collection, crazy how clean the break is.
-Polaris XCR800cc piston, ran hard, got hot.

    Bottom left:
-TC50 piston, after a piston swap, motor was ran too hard and siezed, low coolant, my fault, resulting in a complete top end, not just a piston.
-Second place trophy from Auto-x back in my Subaru days. There was a well known couple racing a porsche, cant remember their names. We went back and forth for FTD, I REALLY wanted the trophy. They ended up beating me by a few thousandths, very close. They left, so I got the trophy and call it a second place trophy.
-Sato muffler, pretty dented, from same friend who gave me the wood, cool cause it titanium!

Along the front: The broken plate from my collarbone from crashing my KTM, uses the original screws too!

I don't doubt it will be added to in the future....
