anyone own a 2002/2003 R1?

my roommates bike (03 R1) if making some strange noises and i want a known good R1 to compare it against. can anyone help me out?

dont worry we dont need to ride it or do anything strange. all i need is to get the bike up to operating temp and then let it idle > check for noise.

What are you hearing? Ticking?

i think it is a transmission bearing noise (probably on the input shaft) because it gets quieter when you pull the clutch in. even in neutral.

Sounds like it would be the clutch basket to me. My 04 does the same thing.
