At least once a year I have a panic attack while riding.
Usually it happens in of the 1st few trips.
In the old days I had this scenario
where a spoked wheel just desintegrated at 80 and a flying w
into oblivion, heaven or hell
Now adays usually triggered by a late braking maneuver where a brakey is required to miss the offending object. Of an extra lean and a feeling of the rear end pushing
In the early days I would have to focus to push through it
now its like a visit from an old friend
"Here I am"
So who else is a brick short of a load...
Come on confession is the first step![]()

One can find religeon on that track, sitting there bouncing off the rev limiter in 6th gear for 30 seconds, twice per lap.![]()

I've had them for ten years, they suck pretty bad and can be pretty debilitating at times.
They're rare these days though. Meds are great for controlling them.

I just went through 'rehab' for riding anxiety.
Started my year riding really well, felt like I never got off the bike. I figured I was just getting a big head because I made it through my 1st season OK, and had my bike setup really well which made it feel better too.
Then I had two incidents that really bugged me out. I had my SV start to wash out from under me while entering an on-ramp in Pawtucket area (read oily) and I didn't realize what happened until it was over. I did recover the bike really smoohtly, so smooth that I was like "did that just happen?". Since that incident I developed "right-turn-itis". Then I had one day where I was riding home on the highway in heavy winds, and I swear that the rear end of the bike moved over about 6" or more. It was probably just a weird gust, but I felt like the bike truly broke loose on me.
After my 1st track day and now my rights turn anxiety is gone, and I am feeling much better riding in winds (did a rain ride last weekend).
Every time I am haivng a hairy time riding it is usually because I am over tired. I am making a effort now to not ride if I am tired, not unlike avoiding booze and riding.

The only time I got really freaked out was last fall, I left for work at about 7:45AM. I was late, so I was rushing, I didn't let my bike warm up all the way. My tires were apparently not all that warm either. I got onto the onramp and gassed it to get in front of a big box truck while leaning a bit farther than I should have been. In a flash, the RPM's jumped to redline, the ass end slid WAY out of line, I nearly highsided, got into a nasty tank slapper and to this day, I'm not entirely sure how I recovered. It really didn't affect me until I had gotten to work that day(on time). I then thought about what would've happened if I had highsided onto a busy highway. YIKES! To this day it doesn't scare me as much as it should, I'm sure.
Ditto.. Bike moving all around in unnatural ways at 160+. I have done it and will never do it again.Originally posted by legalspeed
