Just wondering...how many of you pass on double yellows? Often, randomly, rarely, never...?
I will do it, if I'm stuck behind a slow ass driver on a quiet backroad, and there is no passing zones for a while, only if I feel completly confident that I can make the pass safely. I do not pass on a double in the city, only to arrive at destination one minute earlier, there is no need for it.
edit: sorry if this was previously discussed in another thread, made a search didn't find anything. Shoot me if it was.![]()

Very very rarely. Less then 5 times this year? Basically requiring a long straight with good visibility and no places for cars to pull out. i.e. a place which shouldn't have a double yellow and I'm stuck behind someone going below the speed limit.
Chances are if that type of scenario exists the speed limit is 50-55 and if the car is doing the speed limit I could care less if they're in my way.
I did it more when I first started riding. Which is ironic cause I wasn't as skilled of a rider.

It's legal here - except in town limits and where designated. I do it frequently and always make sure to have line of sight.

i will do it..theres nothing worse then goin out into some twisties and having a slow driver in front of you...the only time i've done it in a populated area though is when i got stuck in the begining of a really bad t storm and was close to home so passed and at the last minute the guy waved me by, those are my favorite kind of drivers haha

I do it ALL THE DAMN TIME !
They're there for cages ,, thats my story and I'm sticking to it !
All the time. In VT its fair game.![]()
V, the one ride I did with you you did like 95mph in the straights, and 10 under in the corners, I dont see you having a problem with passing on double yellows.

I know a little about everything, and alot about nothing.
Last ride you went with me it was pouring rain all day, so yeah, I was being slower and carefull. I don't trust my tires (or myself, take it as you wish) taking corners at speed when it's wet on the ground and I can't see shit in front of me when my visor is full of water drops acting like little magnifying lenses.Originally posted by JeffL

But when it's not raining and dry on the ground, 10 under speed limits? I don't fuckin think so!! I keep an average of anywhere between 20 to 40 over speed limits in the corners. Now that I don't ride a weed wacker anymore (the 250), my POWERFUL NINJA 500 can go really really fast!!!lol...

Sometimes. Kind of like Ben said. If I don't see driveways up ahead, it's straight, and the person is going slow, I'll go around.

I didn't read your post cuz you're on my ignore list but I have some advice for you:
Please pass as often as possible on double yellows regardless of speed or safe sight distance.
KB
tip: if you get pulled over use this line. "the guy in front signal to pulled over". cop would be like "oh i didn't see". whatever... works for me.
and you don't need long straight. you just need a 1000cc.

"fuckit!"
Yeah, just because the lines are double yellow, doesnt mean you dont have a clear line of sight for a good distance, from our rather advantageous point of view.
I know a little about everything, and alot about nothing.
