Heres a condom. I figured since youre acting like a dick, you should dress like one too.
I know that on some Suzuki's the bike has to be running to load a new map. Shut the bike down completely and reboot it. So maybe the same on Yam?

Quad = Open loopOriginally posted by R7
I brought it the dealer and they installed the map for me, seeing I bought it there they said anytime I want to change the map, bring it in and they will hook it up. They don't have a laptop but they do have this crazy long USB cable and I don't even have to unload the bike from my truck.
Mine is the PCIII usb and it is not for a streetbike, it's for my quad. The EFI system isn't quite the same as a streetbike and from what I've read and been told, it's a closed loop system that doesn't self adjust, there is also no O2 sensor. The difference having the PC hooked up even stock with a stock map is huge on this thing. I just put on a slip-on and will be making a airbox mod so I will have to change the map again![]()
Most bikes = Open loop
Some bikes = Semi-closed loop - e.x. medium throttle at 4000-5000rpm "cruise"
Cars = 100% Closed loop
Glad it's workin out for you... the PC3 was the best thing I ever bought for my bike.
"Semi-Closed-Loop" with O2 sensors, etc respond best to the PC3 as these are the hackish solution to meeting EPA regs.
The new Triumphs are closed loop like a car and they are much better... really smooth while still meeting the tough regulations.
Sounds like the new R6 is probably closed loop too?
I doubt any fast revving engines have a completely closed loop system. The cpu is plenty fast enough to respond to changes, but I don't know of any O2 sensors fast enough to work in a closed loop system. If the engine is at cruising speed or under very light acceleration then it is possible but when you blast through first gear in 4-5 seconds, it is open loop all the way.Originally posted by benVFR

Where did you get this info, are you guessing or do you have facts? I read some tech details saying the quad has a closed loop systemOriginally posted by benVFR

I really doubt you have a closed loop.
A closed loop system has sensors all over the place.
You have the O2 sensor in the manifolds and exhausts.
Closed loop means that the computer requires feedback
in order to set the ignition and fuel parameters.
Open loop means that it has a predefined table and
when in a specific area of the table, it will do exactly what
is mapped there.
So check the owners manual and see if they have any
sensor maintenence scheduled in.
We are going to start seeing closed loop systems when
we have anti-pollution equipment on bikes and quads.
I think only the Beemer has closed loop right now ...
not sure but that is what is sticking in my head.
