Today my helmet dopped and went rolling across the concrete floor and broke off the vent covers and now the visor will not go all the way up. I was thinking of getting a new one anyway. I have a full face with little speakers I put in it to listen to my Ipod. I was thinking of a flip up but I need to be able to either add the speakers to it or have them already installed. I am am worried about a flip up because of noise and less protection. I will spend what I have to get a good one. I am told carbon fiber is great because it is light and strong. The one I have is an HJC full face size XL (cheap I know but I have been very happy with it- perhaps from ignorance). So please give me your thoughts on a replacement.

I was only offring the suggestion of the HJC, since he mentioned he has one. I have an AC-12 and it's not bad, but pales in comparison to the newer Arai RX-7 Corsair that I recently purchased.
I love the Arai! Lighter and you can tell it's built better. It is a little noisier than the HJC, because of the numerous vents it has, but I use hearing protection when I ride, so it doesn't bother me.
I have to recommend the shark helmets. I have an RSI and love it..really light, comfortable, good noise reduction while still having great ventilation

60 MPH over the front end landing face 1st in an Arai. I walked away with a broken wrist and cracked ribs, but not even a slight headache. I Love Arai helmets.
+1 on the go try them on in person. Riverside and Moto Market are great with helmet fitting. If you're south shore Mass. Brockton Cycles has a ton of helmets to try on too.
I bit the bullit and bought a Arai quantum 2.

I will have to see how it is on the bike but it did seem to fit my head well. Wish me luck! I will be really pissed if I spent all that money and I am not happy with the helmet. This week is so crazy I won't even be able to try it out until next week. Thank you all so much for your help!

Another Arai fan here. I had an HJC, but was introduced to Arais through a friend who owns The Service Pavilion out of New Holland, PA and also never looked back. He taught me how to fit and sell Arai helmets. He also inspected my helmet after my crash at Mid Ohio last year to make sure the helmet was still safe. He can be found at all the AMA events and International Motorcycle Shows.
The shop I work at in Freeport, ME will also switch out pads free of charge.

my favorite street helmet ever is by far my shuthbert S-1.... bit bulky compared to an arai but way quiter and vents just as good. i never have to change shields either
an arai saved my ass at the track when i landed head first post highside. though i belive any well fitting kevlar/fiberglass shelled helmet from a top mfgr would have done the trick.

Thoroughly enjoyed my two Arai's over the years! So comforatable.
Have had two HJC14's ($79 online @ Brockton Cycle) for passengers, great deal for the $$$...
