Went to pass a slow moving truck and he tried to run me right off of the road through the breakdown lane. He apparently did not want to be passed and was willing to kill me for it.

I would've ended up in some trees had I not pinned it. I was furious, but there is not much you can do except get away quickly.

I sure as hell am not going to pull over if I try to pass and they try to cut me off, I'm going to get the hell outta there. And I don't have ESP, so I can't tell from behind that vehicle what the driver is thinking.

Exactly, I'm not about to pull over so the guy and then run into and over me. I'm going to put him in my rear view mirror.

The second guy on the motorcycle went up to the truck defend his friend(not smart)... Once the person in the truck came out with the weapon the initial guy (the one that passed the truck) backed way off leaving his friend hanging..

I probably would have put the hammer down if I was that lead guy there. By the time the truck swerved, it was probably easier to just gun it out of there. Then the whole time I would be wondering if my friend tried to pass too and what happened to him.

I will say that guy did a good job keeping that truck from rolling or over-correcting out of some of those corners.

If you make the pass, sure, gtfo. But if you are lining up to pass and someone starts swerving into your lane, stop if you have time. I've seen this happen in person. Doesn't end well typically.

Had I been trying to squirt past that guy in the KLR, I would of not had the option to kick in 130+ hp. Guy barely made it even at that.

These nutcases always make themselves known beforehand; speeding up, driving erratically. It's hard to stay in their lane when they're target fixated on you, in their mirrors.

Exactly. Every time I've encountered one, I've seen it coming a mile away.

Besides, if you abort the pass, they feel like they have "won". They showed you a lesson. You back way off, they are very unlikely to continue to escalate the situation.

If I'm moving along on a backroad, I always slow down and assess before making a pass... Maybe it's insulated me from this sort of thing (I get to see the predictive behavior), maybe I've just been lucky.

I did get the block-pass maneuver on VT 100 once, by a guy with his wife and kid (in a child seat) in the car (M3 ragtop, top down!). I gave up as soon as I saw him speed up to ~100 but later pulled in behind him at a pizza shop planning to say 'Hi' (I had 4 friends with me).The guy's wife had it handled. I heard the words "divorce" and "calling my sister for a ride you !@##$".
