My high school used to house the Vincent HRD Motorcycle Factory within it's grounds. The school was built in 1558. Here's a couple of pics of the oldest part of the building. I used to take lessons in this building.

When I was in high school I would often daydream of someday owning/restoring an old Vincent. When you were in high school you were IN THE VINCENT FACTORY

Cool that they put that sign there, were they actually manufacturing bikes in ancient brick buildings like that? Vincent wasn't exactly a mega manufacturer but I would have envisioned their facilities to be a little more modern than that.

I used to spend my lunchtimes sitting on the Supercharged Vincent "Super Nero" that George Brown built and took 7 speed titles on. It was sitting in his shop across from my school and his son used to let us sit on it and imagine we were racing. Good move on his part, because as soon as I was 16 I bought my first bike from him.

There are manufacturers in England that still use buildings like that; many more small manufacturers than there are over here, including plenty of sports cars you've never heard of.
