I am looking to get a 1 piece soon. I have been looking at the smaller leather makers as compared to Astars. Does anyone use the suits I have listed? I really like the XES and spartan so far. Any input would be great.

Are you talking the spartan leathers that the guy on SVrider sells?

There is a Spartan leathers advertised in the back or roadracing world. Didn't Denno have a hook up with them?
Vanson is local and well liked in the area.

Heroic is another line to look at... they might be my next suit.
My Vanson was stiff, but it broke in quickly enough. That stiffness comes from high quality leather, I'm not going to be complaining about it any time soon. If you can afford a Vanson thats the route I'd take. Local support plus a damn good suit, what more could you ask for?
I was talking to some guys at Marcus dairy about a month ago who had thoes suits. I like them alot, Not too bad in price but they are in my upper range of my budget.
I have been told vanson makes great stuff, but like the Heroic suits, they are pricy. I know you get what you pay for but I just cant pay it.....right now.

So I got a price quote from xes on a suit. $1200 for custom, and about $800 for spartan.

My Vanson was pretty soft from day one. I got it about 20 min before going on track and it felt great. Since then its been crashed a few times and repaired a few times and its still going strong. I just with their customer service was a bit better. It can be pretty difficult and time consuming to deal with them especially during the riding season. Right now Im hoping my suit will be ready for the July weekend. Been there since the day before the classic weekend.
I can't speak to the break-in, as mine was used when I got it. It is a late 80's suit though, and has been through god knows how many crashes. It's still perfectly intact, and the vanson guy saw it at the track and told me to bring it to one of their open houses and they'll replace the patch that's worn off and redo some of the beat up (although it's still never broken, just looks worn) stitching for free. I'm not sure where else you can expect a suit to last 20 years and still be functional and getting free support, even when the company knows it was a hand me down to begin with. I've seen enough suits get trashed in one to six crashes to decide that Vanson is the best value around IMO.
I got a deal with Pilot this year, and I have been very happy with my new suit. They will send you a sample suit so you can make sure you have the right size. They will also work out any design stuff you need included in the cost of the suit. The suit fit great and broke in well from day one.
