This was during the Boston Marathon this year and the cop did not stop. He got in trouble after they reviewed the tape.
Spectator Hit By Motorcycle - YourDailyMedia.com
You can see it about a quarter into the video, spectator was standing on the side walk while clapping hands.

Wait, cops get special treatment? Next thing you're telling me is the cop I saw today riding his trooper motorcycle in the rain with no eye protection wont be cited, but god forbid Im sitting in traffic and put my visor up to get some air.
I like how he just pretends nothing happened. What was his punishment? Hit and Run?
Thanks for posting this! I actually saw this as it happened... I watched all of 5 minutes of the marathon and just happened to get lucky and I turned it on right as that happened... TOTALLY swept under the carpet... The newscasters didn't even say shit. I was jumping up and down in my living room waiting for them to replay it and it never happened.
True but if you read the law technically people on sportbikes dont need eye protection either.
“Every person operating a motorcycle or riding as a passenger on a motorcycle or in a sidecar attached to a motorcycle shall wear protective head gear conforming with such minimum standards of construction and performance as the registrar may prescribe, and no person operating a motorcycle shall permit any other person to ride as a passenger on such motorcycle or in a sidecar attached to such motorcycle unless such passenger is wearing such protective head gear, except that no protective head gear shall be required if the motorcyclist is participating in a properly permitted public parade and is 18 years of age or older. If a motorcycle is not equipped with a windshield or screen, the operator of such motorcycle shall wear eye glasses, goggles or a protective face shield when operating such vehicle.”
Most of our bikes do have windscreens of some sort. Would I ride without something coving my eyes? Nope but I could if I wanted to according to how this law is worded.
the windsheild has to be at or above eye level. i realize that it doesnt say that but it is what it is.
i cant see the vid.

It looks to me like he was cheering the runners on or trying to hand them some fluids.
Yeah I was under the impression that the windshield had to be X amount of inches above the handlebars, Im not sure what the exact figure was. I just think its ridiculous for a state trooper to be riding in the rain with no eye wear, yet we get hassled all the time with our visors up. I cant see how anyone could ever ride without anything, even with a screen, unless I have huge bono glasses wind gets in my eyes and then I cant see.
have you ever ridden a bike with a windsheild? its seriously almost still air around you. you can just about light a cigarette.

I wonder if the person who got hit was alright or just had the wind knocked out of him/her. He/she didn't get up right away.
not that i condone this, but when I would try and cheat and ride the bike for work (Im a project manager so im supposed to be in the company truck in case i have to get materials for a project, bring tools to a site, etc.) I would wear one of those stupid bluetooth headsets. as long as i was cruising and not accelerating hard off of lights, people never caught on. I ride the HD all the time without goggles or glasses, you just dont need em.
The spectator was standing in the street. Shouldn't have been there. Not entirely the cops fault..

Gonna play devil's advocate here.
A. the cop was riding at 'maybe' 5mph.
B. The idiot who got hit stepped out in front of the cop.
C. It looks to me like the person WAY over-reacted. Kinda jumped backwards like he/she was shot by a 50 cal round. The impact and the reaction just don't seem 'right' to me. Something is definitely fishy.
D. I don't think the cop saw the person do the backwards-superman and didn't think the incident was a big deal. Looks to me like the cop swerved and mostly avoided the person. Probably made very little contact-if any.
There's not much chance of you keeping a 900lb bike upright at 5mph after an impact head on with a big old person like that.
Just my opinion.
derek
I just watched it again
The dipshit got hit by the police bike's left hand hard luggage!!!!! The cop probably knew nothing about it.
.....and that person DEFINITELY over-reacted.
derek
yeah, looks like the person got clipped by the side luggage on his or her leg... but if that's the case, that could hurt like a bitch & potentially do some damage.

Yes and teach you a lesson you should learn at 5 years old. Don't walk out onto a road without looking.
If the cop had fallen and broken his neck, everyone would be condemning the spectator. The cop skillfully avoided a crash so he gets to go before an enquiry and possibly loses his job.
Yeah, hard luggage to the knee has gotta hurt though.
oh absolutely, the person's a dipshit no question about itstupid is is stupid does
hopefully the cop didn't get TOO screwed for someone else's lack of situational awareness.

I'm with Degsy, the spectator is a drama queen!
