best prices for Shoei RF1000 or other bang for the buck helmet

i'm on the lookout for a new bucket.... probably gonna treat myself this time even though i STILL have to buy parts to get my bike all pretty again... so because of that i'd like to keep it to about 300 bucks.

w/ that said i'm thinkin bout an RF1000 in black metallic or maybe the green voltage graphics if i can find it cheap enough, but that's in the 400 buck range

what i really wanna know is, what's the BEST BANG FOR THE BUCK helmet in or around 300 bucks? did i already find it in the RF?

KBC's are the best bang for the buck helmet but they are much less than $300 so i guess they are too cheap for you

heh, yeah... i'm actually replacing my VR1 that i really liked, but it had some issues w/ the visor flipping up on me at speed when i do a lane check. I'm also considering the KBC Racer 1 but i've just heard SO MUCH about the RF that i decided to look into that as well

I don't know if you like AGV helmets, but I found a guy on e-bay who sells them CHEAP - I just bought an AGV Demon, cost me $112.00 shipped to my door.....

1st have rf1000 in eyeball white at dmta for 307
Love it very cool and cool and does funny things to your hair and its loud but I always wear ear plugs

2nd I have a brand new in box agv monza in red that was a medium large but I am a shoei large and this is 2 sizes smaller so a medium maybe like 6 7/8 or so.

It been on a head once for 10 minutes will sell with spare sheild for $ 75

I got my Z-II for $300 from Helmet Harbor...

It is supposedly a better helmet than the RF-1000, although the RF-1000 is a newer design at this point.

That is for a solid color though... IMO it would be better to get a solid color Z-II or X-11 if you have a Shoei head than to get an RF-1000 or other lower model with graphics for the same price.

I LOVE my Z-II. The vents are excellent and the thing really resists fogging.

edit: The Z-II messes up my hair and strangely enough it messes it up more when it's short for some reason. My hair is easy to fix when I get to work though.

IMO HJC is the best bang for buck helmet..

I have a KBC for a passenger helemt...and it seems ok. But I have heard/seen way to many instances of kbc's splitting on impact....

All my teamates run HJC's and have over 30 wrecks between them..all with hjc....all with no incident.

I won the Shoei RF1000 in RJ's silent auction fundraiser. I bid $351 for the helmet, which is about what you will pay for one from ashop I think. It's a medium. I gave it to my wife and she likes it. It's a shiny black one, don't think it's metallic.

i just want something light, w/ good ventilation, removable liner & a solid visor hinge system... if it's Double Dipped Cream Dream Supreme Badass & Pimp, even better

Click on that link I did above, and see if the seller has any more auctions, he may have the AGV helmet you want for CHEAP.

For what its worth, I LOVE the AGV Demon I bought - its comfy, good build quality, with good ventilation for riding on hot days. The only complaint I have is that its LOUD in there, almost quieter with the shield up.....

I use a v-flyer helmet. I like it. I got it from Doc's Lowriders in Middleboro, MA. He gives cost + 15% on those to NESR members.

also so far i've found that i can get:

Tried on the RF1000 & loved it.... tried on the Racer 1 & liked it alot.... doesn't help my quest for a new bucket

also tried on arai's... & loved them as well. cept i dont even remember the ones i tried on. what's their product line-up like & what compares to the rf1000 or other helmets in that price range?

of course the only downside of Arai helmets is they don't make a green one
