Really appreciate all the progress and consistent posts, Jim. So many steps of this are beyond my personal "yeah I'd try that" limit; great to see you working through the stuff as it arises.

300 swap header is 51mm OD.
    LeoVince can is 53mm ID.

Weighing out options to have the header flared, clamp it, or get a can that fits better.

    Re: Project: Grom 2.0

Found someone with the tuning cable to connect the laptop to the bike, but figured out I can download the Bluetooth link app on the laptop to flash the ECU via laptop Bluetooth.

Selected the 2018 Grom stock map and we’re off…

    Re: Project: Grom 2.0

Now that the flash is completed, my mobile app is showing other bike models, like it should have been.

Now my ECU is mapped correctly.

    Re: Project: Grom 2.0

Current issue is there are still no RPMs on the dash. Will keep troubleshooting that.

The bike is essentially ridable once the front sprocket arrives.

    Remaining list:
    - order new muffler (tomorrow)
    - install new O2 sensor (arrives Monday)
    - install crankcase breather filter (arrives a week from today)
    - oil the air and breather filters
    - install chain
    - install plastics
    - trim front plastics to fit radiator
    - setup dash again

I had a ton of problem flashing my RC8R, turns out you can see and monitor, but you can't flash over bluetooth for me!

spoke to one of the experts that know this stuff and he recommended using the 2016 Grom map as a base model for all 2016-20 models.

flashed the ECU again and set it up for auto tuning and fuel

    Re: Project: Grom 2.0

RPM on the dash fixed with flashing the 2016 Grom.

    New Hindle muffler arrives tomorrow.
    New O2 sensor arrives Monday.
    Crankcase breather arrives Tuesday.

No update on the front sprocket.

Killed my new lithium battery from all the ECU and dash config and starts. Swapped back to the OEM till I get a lithium charger.

You can use a regular charger, just unplug it once it says the batt is charged to keep it from cooking the batt in float mode, no worries.

Ok, don't let it try to desulfate either, if it's one of THOSE chargers.

Yes but then I’m stuck with a discontinued muffler if I need to replace it for whatever reason.

Rather get something that I knew fits and is still in the market.

Pipe expander now, rent/borrow, get things mounted and running. Pocket the cost of the exhaust... then down the line, if the bad thing happens, spend the money then?

what's right ? I say weld it on, if you want to replace, cut it off weld a different one on no worries about loose clamps, leaky joints

Ok, $150, go for it. I was thinking it'd be $500 or more.

Absolutely not. I am not taking off that header again after the 4 evenings it took to get it to bolt up.
