Getting close to finishing... almost on the road.
Anyone know of an upcoming bike/car show?![]()
finish that shit tonight/tomorrow and bring it to Lowell tomorrow night...
looking good so far though
2002 RC51
-Aluminum undertail, custom GP Can and mid-pipe, Jardine 2-1 Header, PC3, EBC Wave Rotors (F&R), CRG's, Goodridge SS Lines, Greggs, Black w/ Flattening and some carbon goodies
USMC - Semper Fi
POW/MIA - Not Forgotten
So very, very, very sick.
Post more pics, videos, everything!
Oh man, i WISH i could have it done for tomorrow. haha
This project started a couple months ago (after collecting parts all winter)
It's getting very close to completion.
I just need to get a new front fender (DOC!) so i can paint and graphic that to match the bike, mount the oil cooler, run the oil lines... fill her with gas and oil, and then TUNE THE BRUTE! Tuning it, i feel, is going to be a nightmare. Blow-through carb setup.
Gotta work with so many variables:
Vaccum/boost leaks (like any new project),
fuel pressure to match boost pressure
boost pressure to match fuel pressure
pitot boost reference
Fuel pump working properly (jegs 95 gph)
Fuel leaks
Air / Fuel mixture screws
Main jet size
pilot jet size
Needle height / shims
and then gotta ride it! See how she handles... suspention setups etc.
I've done so much in the past couple months, the first few times riding it, i'm going to have SO MUCH to pay attention to!!!
It's a good thing i have my girls black and PINK gixxer to ride when she lets me!
More pics / story time soon.
who's going to do your tuning for you, I have posted before about dent sport garage in norwood, your limiting agent is going to be the carbs, Matt over there will be able to figure out where you want to tune the best power for. Its like the old dial gauges (gcc and vcc) controls for the late model supras before they came out with the piggy backs and standalones for them.
I have to get my moto over there to see how the triple puts down for base numbers. They want to get the bike on before I put a pipe on it and such.
good luck, the work looks great on it from what I can see.
carl
Yea, i remember you saying something about them. I'm going to get it as close as i can on my own, then bring it somewhere to dial it in.
I'm hoping for just over the 200hp mark. That would be fun.
and thanks for the compliments guys
haha, well i'm starting with 114hp stock, hopefully pushing 8-10 psi... and figure around ~9hp per lb of boost... should be around that kinda #
Wow, thats some nice looking fabrication there. I've done a bunch of automotive setups but never one for a bike, looks like it should be interesting when its done. Also looks like that exhaust housing is going to keep the front tire nice and warm for you.

+1 for the dentsport guys. They have been friends of mine forever, done a bunch of work on cars for me, and tuned a bike or two. I have a vr4 galant that they have done a ton of work on.

damn, Mike G is everywhere, I tried to add you for a referral but didn't know what your name on the forum was.
some work on the VR4, he lies, show pics of that mammoth.
Looks awesome... I think your 9hp per lb is a little high, prolly end up closer to 7 on that combo. It'll still be a hell of a kick in the pants.
yea, the front tire will stay warm haha. But i spent hours and hours checking clearances when i fabbed it up. I put the ratchet straps on the forks and pulled them all the way to the bottom to check clearance. When it's fully compressed, it's about 3/4" away from the turbo exhaust housing. So i think it'll be good.
Downpipe is done, and i made some heat shields, and just gotta do some Clearcoating of the body parts, fit some oil lines, top her off with high octane and 10w40 and see how she goes!
And hey Brit-Triple, Do you have a name and # i can call to see whats up with the tuning? I'd like to get some ballpark figures to see how much it's going to empty my pockets.
Thanks
~Kevin
everything is done EXCEPT for the oil drain from the turbo... Still debating on where to plumb that back to. OPtions are getting an oil filter sandwhich adapter and plumbing it back into that, or the oil drain plug w/ a banjo bolt, or the oil filler cap on the clutch cover.
PS--- i hate fitting braided lines!!!! I only bled once though! so that was good.
Now i just have to figure out how to get this jerk inspected... I'm not sure if a turbocharger is part of the "modified exhaust" statute in the RI ordinances? haha
Inspections suck.
But, here's picture time:
^or could i run the oil drain to the plug under the red AN fittin? the allen bolt there?

That bike is looking mean.
What are you going to do for the intake filter, will it be straight off the turbo.
Dent Sport is Al and Bill, number is 781-551-3399, the tuner is Matt. DSG - DENT Sport Garage
I spoke to Al already about maybe getting us a dyno day for NESR's. They would be up for it, but their dyno is (dyno dynamics dynameter) set up for awd. They can strap motorcycles down (as they have tuned their own motorcycles and I am going to put the triple on soon) but unlike a set up for motorcycles, they need two people, one to run the bike and one to run the dyno. Usually matt can sit in the car and tune on a lap top while he is putting it through its paces. He told me most people for a straight pull (just to check hp #'s) are used to paying short money to get on and off, so he didn't know if they could make it worth our while to just pull for the sake of saying, "my bike has more hp than yours".
As far as tuning goes, they will and can do a great job for you or anyone else. Carbs have inherent limitations, so give them a call and tell them carl sent you.
They like to help people out, I have stated before, check them out on the DSM forums, when they see your bike they will lend you an ear and help in anyway possible, the guys just are 100% into fabrication and projects in general.
good luck, and def tell me if and when you are going to be in the area
carl
The bike is looking awesome. I definately want to see some video to hear that motor running. I love the sound of turbo!
It is important that the turbo be able to drain using gravity. The connection for the drain must be below the turbo. I know some motorcycle turbo kits need to use a small reservoir and scavenge pump to get the oil back into the engine.
looks great.

Man, that front brake lever looks deadly. If anything, I want as few sharp points on a bike as possible. Less chance of getting skewered in a crash.
Other than that, your bike looks awesome.
God DAMN I love forced induction...
