Heres what happened. Im still shooken up. around
8:30pm I was driving on a main road with traffic about 60 miles an hour. The biggest AssHat highschool kid in daddy's nice car swerves in to my lane with his foot on the gas as if I werent there. Ididn't see him until his drivers side-door was literally within inches in front of me. I grabbed the front brakes veared to the left a little, the front locked up for a second followed by a small endo and a brief tank slapper. I dont know how I recovered with out hitting this jerkoffs car and eating the pavement hard. I pulled up still holding down my horn, looked at him while flipping the bird. He mouthed to me," im so sorry". As much as I would have liked to either crackem in the head with my helmet or lecture him for a half hour about watching where the fuck he's going and the fact that he almost got me killed, I went straight home to let everything sink in. There was an 18 wheeler behind me who pulled along side me at the next light and said, " hey man you all right...good save, i saw the whole thing". I've been cut off before, but never like this. The dick bag floored it to get in front of the truck that was behind me with out bothering to look if there was anyone in front of the truck, he blindly shot his car as if he was gonna cut off the truck!!!..I gave a shout out to J.C. immediately following this. ...Just a reminder to all. Expect the unexpected, be safe.![]()

THe funny thing is.. I was taking out the bike to check for leaks when I got back from my ride. I had a tiny bit of oil sweating from a spot at the mating surfaces, so I retorqued the 8mm bolts and slathered so more sealant on that biatch. I didnt use the hightemp silicone shit. Takes to long to cure and I wanted to ride. I used the same stuff i did last time. Hondaband4, Works great. Its rated to be good for up to 300degrees. I dont need the 700 degree bs.Originally posted by OreoGitorio

I gotta give a shout out or an email somehow to some of the guys like Lee Parks(Total Control) to say thanks. I internalized the shit out everything ive read as much as possible in the past year. Granted, I was also really lucky, but I dont think I would of come out of this if it had happened a few years ago. I always have a few fingers over the brake lever. The incident happend so fast that if I hadn't had the brake under my fingers there literally wouldn't have been enough time to, open my hand, grab the brake lever, etc... my legs flew off and all I got was a tiny layer of skin shaved off my calf from the foot beg..I feel Extremely fortunate tonight. this incident really scared the shit out of me. 3 weeks ago, a guy I know had the same thing happen on a gixxer 1000. Hes ok, but he dumped it, got a hole in his shoulder, some fierce road rash all over the place, And his helmet had a part that went all the way down to the padding. The dude must of hit hard cause the docs had him on morphine for 2 days followed by some perkisets. I dont think he was wearing leathers. He got caught under his bike and slid with his leg trapped. This winner tells me," I had jeans on and everything and the pavement still ate right through them". At least hes ok. I had my leathers on, but I WasN'T wearing my gloves. From now on, the gloves are stayin on.Originally posted by ancosta

good job getting manuvering yourself out of an accident. i give you alot of credit for not taking off after the jerkwad.
thank god there were no oil leaks that could have gotten your tire slick. that would have been bad.
News Bulletin: That is NOT doing OK!Originally posted by FireFly

It's all water under the bridge, and we do enter the next round-robin. Am I wrong?
all i can think is that we need to be aware around large vehicles. lines of sight, and all.
this does NOT excuse that teenage shithead, but it's cause to be aware.
personally, it sounds like you were too shaken up, but I would have left a nice "reminder" on his door for that incident.
Yah.. good save.
Scary thing is how easy this can happen even if the driver is paying attention.
In my car I have to *really* look to see if a bike is in my blindspot. Gotta be extremely careful.
why do you let a truck so close behind you and lots of space in front of you that a car wants to pass? if you pop the wheel and go down, you're gonna get run over bywhatever was behind you... never mind the guy next lane.
"fuckit!"
The Truck had just moved over into my lane behind me and I was starting to pull away to get some distance between myself and the truck. A split second after I started to pull away from the truck is when the Douche bag cut into me.Originally posted by Kham

in my opinion a stern talking to with some choice explicit words and gestures is all that is needed. no need to do physical harm to them or their vehicle. it just has potential to get you in trouble. it takes a lot to restrain yourself though, believe me, I know.
It looks like you kept your cool though. Glad you are all right and nothing bad happened.
As for not wearing gloves. I see people all the time with full gear except gloves.I don't get it but I like my hands and the ability to use them.
