Okay as you may or may not know I sold the frankenbike to another member of this board and am now looking for a new track bike.
I have the option to purchase a fully done 2000 r6 track bike with a clean and registerable title. This bike has about 10,000 miles on it and was owned by a semi-pro racer. The bike had the whole engine rebuilt last year and dynoed in at 108 hp. This bike comes fully track prepped and with an extra set of rims, subframe, gas tank, and possibly a rear stand.
The guy is asking 4000 dollars for this bike. I was just wondering do you think this is a good price for the bike.
I don't know sh*t but why is he selling it ?
It must be burnt and a fresh street 600 from 6 years ago must
be less then 4000
Only if it had tons of still useable goodies and you wouldn't mind throwing an engine at it soon.
Glen Beck is John the Baptist
What goodies are on it? Shock? rearsets? clip-ons? Exhaust? Wheels? Brakes? If the stuff is all stock, it's not a great price. Bu, if the shock is a Penske, the clip-ons and rearsets are Woodcraft, etc. then it may be a good price. Check with Peter Kates about the history of whether he's done work on it or not. That can tell you if it was in a crash that needed extensive straightening.
Okay I got the dirt on the bike went and looked at it tonight. It looks pretty clean and has some nice aftermarket stuff.
You guys will probably know more than I do about the bike and owner. The bike is number 662 in the LRRS owned by a guy named gary abate.
He has receipts for 2000 dollars in engine rebuilding receipts that I will be checking out tommorrow.
Also the motor rebuilding was done by Sean Sweeney dont know if that means anything to people or not.

Ah yeah, i've seen that bike... don't know much about it, but it's got the GMD stickers on the front end so Mistah Kates would probably know somethin about it.
