I am in the market for a pair of full length boots and cannont decide what to get. I have narrowed it down to the following. The A* S-MX 5, Sidi Cobras or the Sidi Vertigo. All the reviews I read mention nothing about them lasting so I figure why not ask here. I also have 11.5 fat feet with no arch support so if any are super narrow then they are cancelled out. For our kind of New England weather which would be more benificial vented or none? Nothing is worse to me then my feet freezing during the colder months.
I just want anyones opinion who has owned any of these and why you like/hate them.
Have you tried any of them on?
When shopping for race boots, I was undecided between the Supertech R and the Sidi Vertigo Corsas.... I found somewhere to try them on and it was a no brainer... Went with the Supertechs cuz that's what fit my foot better.

Also vented or none? I can deal with my feet smelling just not freezing.
Sidi makes two wide boots: the Mega Vertigo ($395) and the Mega Way ($250).
Mega Vertigo is Gore-Tex lined.
I've tried all the wide boots, the other being the Daytona RoadStar GTX. The Vertigo is good. I sent the Mega Way back - they're like slippers. The Roadstars are lower and better for walking the Vertigo taller, more protective, stiffer, and thus not great for walking.

Sweet. For the rest of the week I don't get out till 8 so either after that or during the weekend I could come by.
I wouldn't (don't) bother with vented for street boots. A vented boot in New England will only be really comfortable for a couple months a year, max. If you're doing any riding at all into the shoulder seasons or in any sort of rain, you'll be much happier with a solid boot.
In fact, if the SMX-5's turn out to be your choice, take a look at the waterproof model. For street use in various conditions they're a great option.
The Mega Ways aren't worse than any other $250 boot. They suffer in comparison to the $395 boots. You pays your moneys and you takes your choice. You started this thread to get advice, right?
If you want boots that fit wide feet, those are the three choices, at least the three I've found. all the motorcycle boots have European last shapes, which are typically wider in the heel and narrower in the front than North American feet: they seem to be designed to hurt. I tried every single low-cost boot option for wide feet and wound up with two pairs each costing $395. Didn't like it any more than you.

i have wide feet and had to go with A* as well...
you might want to look at the SMX -R's... inbetween the 5's and plus's. I like the outside zipper in the R's better than the inside zipper on the 5's and they are a little bit stiffer and more protective while still giving you enough flex.
The plus's are not the best for walking around since they are stiffer and they also have the annoying sqeak that drives people nuts but if you're looking for protection and nothing else matters because you wont be walking much in them then I would get the Plus's.
The only reason I got the SMX-R's was because I wore them to work...

If you know your size, you can find some great deals on used or once-worn boots on eBay.
I wear 12EE. I'd also heard tht Alpinestar "ran wide" and bought some used ones on eBay for around $125. They were not nearly wide enough, so I resold them for nearly the same amount.
Most of the guys I know with wide feet and limited budget buy police duty boots. There are models from $100-225. BassPro and Cabelas stock several lines, but a lot of people buy them from Zappos and return what they don't like. Some are available up to EEEE.
You'd think it would be easy to get wide boots. It's surprisingly difficult. To my knowledge none of the local dealers stock any: they just try to cram you into what they have, or punt.

Check out the Cortech Latigo's. I have wide feet and they fit really well. I couldn't get into the normal Sidi's. The Cortech's are very similar to the A*'s but with a bit more shin protection that sticks out further.
I tried on Scottie's MX-5 in size 46 and they fit like a glove, but it could have been because he stretched them out. I can deal with doing that I will just walk around my house in them for a few days. I will look into the R's mainly because they do offer more protection and the plus's would probably drive me nuts with the squeaking noise. Thanks people.
I have wide feet and wear TCX boots. Bayliss sez they're cool and so do I.
Knee draggers posted these as the daily deal on facebook tonight.
I only recognized them from this thread, so thought I'd post. Don't know if you can get a better price elsewhere or not.

Son of a bitch!!! That's a great deal right there, but of course they don't have my size. I am still going to go with my previous choice. Thanks for the heads up though.
