I bought a bike from a private seller in NH, but I am living in MA. Will I have to pay tax on the bike when I go to register/title it? Eventhough NH has no sales tax

That is right. You will get taxed on either the amount listed in the bill of sale, or the book value of your bike, plus penalties if you didn't pay within the allowable timeframe.

Vt has the same greedy take. I have yet to pay mine yet. Also, if you traded something in or sold something, bring records so you can get the tax credit.

what penalties? What if i purchase something and dont plan on putting it on the street for a while, im still subject to these fees?
