Bikes that don't come stock with lower fairings don't need bellypans at LRRS.Originally posted by R7
In most cases they require a full belly pan, I think Motards are one of the only exceptions to the rule??

The dealer I checked out while in the UK had them since before x-mas. I wasn't a big fan of the LE bikes based on the pics, but when I saw the LE R1 and R6 in person, my jaw dropped. Amazing bikes.

You know I really love the Yamaha Black/Yellow/White scheme but I don't think that paint scheme + new R6 is a good match.
That picture makes it look worse then most but they've just gone a bit too far with the mix of lines and curves on this one. It looks better in a more solid scheme to hide some of the lines.
What is that? Could it be a R& race kit?Originally posted by ChR1s
I'm getting this
Yamaha
Shark Skinz is the only company at the moment with bodywork for the new R6 since they supply the Graves Yamaha Race Team. Still haven't gotten the price on it though.
Dan Kyle's race shop is also selling the Ohlins rear on Ebay for $900 versus the near $1200 list price.
So that only brings the total to:
Bodywork (atleast) $600
frame sliders $70
Stator cover $100
Right side Engine Cover $100
exhaust $925
Ohlins Rear Shock $900
Forks Springs/Revlave $600
Rear Sets $350
Swing Arm Sliders $20
Bar End Sliders $20
Race Screen $70
Sprockets $75
Brake Lines $100
Velocity Stacks $200
Power Commander $250
Paint $100
Total:
$3580
PLUS, not to mention
2nd set of wheels from Yamaha: $800 (hopefully less though)
And tires, tires, tires,
Intial Set of Pirelli SuperCorsa Pro's $300
Intial Set of Pirelli Dragon Rain Tires $350
Grand Total:
$5030
PLUS VP Ultimate 94 @ $12/Gallon
Gas for Travel, Gate Fees, Entry fees.....etc..etc...etc.....
AND first payment on Yamaha Card $0

Just keep the 600RR?? You're already knock knock knockin' on 16's door, plan on staying in Am all next year, the 600RR still has more speed left to give, and you already own it.
Seems a whole lot easier than running around like crazy building a new bike in 2 months just to race Amateur all season (when your times are already front running in Am). Seems like you and the 600RR had a solid season already, must be a lil chemistry.
Unless you plan on racing the 06 R6 as a Expert in 07. Then I guess it makes sense to get it now and spend the year dialing it in. Woooof, I did some laps on my teammates salvage-yard bonestock 2004 R6... good LORD it blew my miiiind how damn fast those things go down the straights! Felt like I was riding a ACME rocket. Can't imagine the new ones, look like amazing bikes.

That's my whole season's budget and it doesn't include the 10K for the bike or any racing! If you're just rollin in dough, that's one thing, but to me that's a huge waste of money. unless you're going to be winning expert races and collecting yamaha $$ and battling for a championship I just can't see the point.
An old R6 can get you into the 11's. Getting the new one as an amatuer is like flushing money down a toilet. Your CBR is good for 12-13's
EDIT: It is a HOT looking bike though, no doubt there...![]()
But, can you really put a price on ego?![]()

EGO? Who said anything about an ego? I was just listing the basic race set-up costs to make the new bike track worthy. Wether I do it or not depends on wether I sell the 05. Even at that, I might just get another 05 set up better than mine. I have been eyeing up Jamie Hacking's supersport '05 600.Originally posted by ChR1s

And yes, I will be racing expert in '07 as far as my plans go at the time being. But have to get through this season first.
Ego will get you in trouble time and time again. I see it all the time while coaching and instructing. I will pull someone off the track, take the time to explain what they are doing wrong and need to correct then they proceed to blow me off since they are too good for instruction. Then I watch them crash on their head.
The best story of last season (well theres a few like this) is I had this new kid just ripping it up on a zx 10 at VIR. We mved him up to intermediate and then he came to Pocono the following week. I saw him on the grid, he looked over, I said "I'll be watching you but just take it easy the first few sessions and especially the first few laps here until you learn all the bumps and markers." What's he do? He goes and crashes on the warm up lap. My starting grid and pit row marshalls couldn't believe after listening to me talk to him. Now THAT's ego.
