Hey everyone,
Hoping someone can help. I race @ Loudon (expert class) and do plenty track days during the season. I have a tight budget.
I have an Akrapovic full race system (dynojet setup as well) for my 99 r6. I smashed my canister (while trying to avoid 2 deer on the way back from the poconos) , the rest of the exhaust (headers) is just fine. Can someone tell me if I can fit an Akrapovic slip on canister on??? I saw them on ebay for about 300. Again, I currently have a full system installed. And if I do find another full exhaust from another manufactuer, should I get my bike re-jetted??? Please someone help.
thanks,
donny

from my understanding which is limited to mostly cars, but I think the same idea applies to bikes, not all exhaust systems flow the same way, so to achieve peak performance your probably going to rejet (tune) again if you get another brand full exhaust system.

Cheese is good
You can buy just the can from Akro through a Parts Unlimited dealer, may be cheaper than the slip on canister.

From what I know, Hindle is the only system which allows you to interchange slip-on / full-system parts.

If you call Akropovic they will send you just the parts that you damaged and you can re-build your current setup at a fraction of the cost. Provided your good with the tools!

Donny, Lockhart Phillips will sell you any parts you need. They will also be able to tell you what slip-on cannister will fit on the full race system.
derek
I had an Akrapovic full system on my superhawk. The Titanium cans were stolen.![]()
Thank you Manchester Police for doing nothing. Nothing but the exact cans(the ones that came with the system) would fit back on it. I could get them through Akrapovic, but at $500 a piece I decided just to put the factory manifold back on and the twobrothers pipes back on.
Depending on how much you care about scratches, I'm pretty sure they sell rebuild kits.

Hes got a full Akra exhaust system, he smashed up his can, and is wondering if the full system can differs from the slip-on can, or are they interchangeable, so he can just order a slip-on can and it will be the exact same as the can that came with the full system.Originally posted by OreoGaborio

I know a little about everything, and alot about nothing.
i would guess that the slip on can would have a different "inlet" diameter compared to a full system can since im sure that Akra makes that mid pipe a little larger on a full system

I agree with Pete. I'll dissect the orgional and show everyone how it is really a secret message to other lurkers to over-throw the Dirty Bastard forum

Hey everyone,
He starts of by throwing a smoke screen of pleasentry. You should *already* be suspicious of his motives and intent at this point.
Hoping someone can help.
he is setting the trap, trying to establish that he is need of assistence to get your guard down. You might as well call the dept of Homeland Sec now
I race @ Loudon (expert class) and do plenty track days during the season. I have a tight budget.
a clear attempt to infultrate NESR by establishing that he is 'one of us' i.e. hits the track and is broke. This is almost *exactlly* like the scene in Repo Man where "Otto" ditches the punk clothes for a new 'repo man' look. The tight budget is also sham...he is obviosully on the payroll of Haliburton, Harley Davidson, or possiblly France.

I'm not sure what this part means. A few code experts think it might have something to do with call for an eBay jihad.
thanks,
this part is the most telling of the whole post. if you look really closley between the letters of "thanks" you can see it actully reads "Terrorists Have Apocalyptic Newbie Kawaski Squids"...another hidden message to other lurkers to release the squids on the Dirty Bastard forum.
Pete, I'm glad someoe elese caught on to this plan, otherwise NESR could have been lost to lurking insurgents.

careful, we have a zero tollerance for squids in the dirty area and usually they get filtered out in short orderOriginally posted by chr|s sedition

To answer the question, the Akra cannister itself for a 1999 R6 is the same part number weather it's a full system or a slip-on. The mid pipe is NOT the same![]()
That's the nice thing about Akrapovic, you can buy just the parts you need to fix your exhaust if you crash and not have to worry about buying another full system.
Been there done that with Akra, full system for the OW was 2100 bux, I had a little accident and was able to just buy a new cannister, midpipe, hanger band and bracket![]()
Yamaha
the akra cans are the same for the same make/model bike whether its a slip on or full system.
you can also change between ti or cf cans.
chr|s sedition your reply was very funny... I appreciate the replies... Makes me happy that I found this forum.
I have been slacking on doing research cause of the off season.
Cool - It looks like I can buy another canister. The damage to the old one was pretty big. It's flat like a pancake, I thought about getting the repair kit but I don't think I can fix it.
I gotta say I am surprised that the slip on canister is the same size as the race canister. I'll give Parts Unlimited a call tomorrow.
all joking aside, I suprised if your a Louden junkie as you claim to be, that you just found NESR now, or don't know like 1/2 the people on here....or do you?Originally posted by cielo

I remember the NESR forum back when it was posted on LRRSRACING's website (as a link) I was registered it back then.. that was a few years ago....
Then it disappeared and i think it went over to a Yahoo's forum. After that I didn't find it anymore.. There wasn't a need to look for NESR until I need an answer to my exhaust question.
I've racing at Loudon since 98... racing only a few rounds a year..(remember the tight budget comment?) with a Barns Rental Truck.. No fancy tools, no new tires, no extra set of rims... Just got a pair recently...
Oh well..
ya mean Chris? He's the last one that posted...Originally posted by cielo

Personally, i thought it was kind of a funny question coming from a racer as well... usually racers are pretty savvy when it comes to knowing where to get what parts cheap & generally don't care much about perfectly jetting a street bike
s-all good though... if ya still got questions fire away, i'm sure someone can help ya out... hopfully you'll hang around on NESR & help out the next guy that comes along. That's what we're here for.
