Watching for cops is a good reason to see behind you BUT an even better one is to spot that car that is not stopping before you end up on the hood or in the middle of an intersection.

i think it is an extra distraction.. i dont use mirrors i look back if i need to see anything behind me but the bike doesnt spend much time stopped or slow speeds therefore i dont feel the need from them..
im aware of the benefits and the dangers but thats my decision
