I'd step back and re-evaluate the whole situation. Maybe get back to the basic's and work from there. I know you "think" you know how to ride, we all like to "think" we do. But in reality we all could use alot more training in this area.
Take an ARC class and get fine tuned with throttle control, body position, etc..etc... I took it and found it gave me more confidence in my riding abilities on track & street. They really pinpointed my little quirky habits I had and I was able to work on this while street riding.
If you can not get back in the groove it may be time to hang it up on the street, your not doing yourself any good if you cant get that "edge" back and may become a danger to others in any random situation.
Just my .109287312312733 for ya to think about.
Good Luck w/ this...

Bingo. A 1000R is a little silly for the street. Especially in NE, where most fun roads have driveways on them.
I got out of sportbikes a while back, bought a KTM 950 Adv. Stupid fun bike, around 100hp. More than enough power, and has enough suspension travel to go anywhere. It will drag pegs if I want it to, but I have more fun just plunking around, exploring dirt roads and trails as I come across them.
When I had sportbikes, I was always trying to take corners faster and faster. Now, I really don't give a crap, and I'm having more fun.
I was run over on the track a few years back, and it has taken a while to get back up to speed there. Time & practice.
My plan I am working
Sold gixer 1 K replaced with Vstrom and stick alot to 3rd rate unnumbered 2 lane roads
The Gixer was always a comitment as it leaped from turn to turn... never could relax
Lastly I used to get a PANIC ATTACK once a year and after a while just said
OOOpps there it is then got over it.
