How do I go about removing my tank off of my k7 GSX-R 750. I just got my LED lights in and it says its recommended that I remove the tank. I don't want to pay the money to have them installed if I don't have to. Thanks for any feedback.
Remove the tank and replace it with LED's?
Brilliant!
This will be the fastestes jixxer evah!

I can't believe I'm about to help you install LED's on a perfectly good bike...
Remove the seat. (two small allen bolts, 4mm, on either side of the seat)
Remove the big allen (6mm) bolt at the front of the tank.
Retrieve the tank prop rod from under the rear seat.
Prop up the tank using the rod and disconnect all the stuff from the tank (two vent hoses, they slide off. The fuel line from the bottom of the pump. Pinch the gray tabs and the coupler will slide off. Unplug the power for the fuel pump.)
Remove the bolt holding (and now acting like a hinge) from the rear of the tank. It's one 5mm allen that goes all the way through the tank hinge and into the other side of the frame.
Carefully lift the tank off of the bike.
Now that I've told you. I must warn you. Removing a gas tank from a sportbike is pretty basic stuff. If you're not confident at that... You probably shouldn't be handling the install of electrical components...
Go pay someone. Or call Jim....

This is a manual for a K6 but the steps are basically the same.
i can help you. but only because you have a gixxer & are installing LED's. you probably dont have to remove the tank, just prop it up. i dont have a prop up tool, so i just use a hammer on the air box to hold the tank up.
fair warning: you may end up asking to delete this thread when you turn into a pinanta for asking a gixxer, LED and simple question.
Thanks to everyone that gave me the helpful hints, to everyone that wasted 3 minutes of their lives to flame me for asking a simple question go F#&* yourself![]()
I did not say its the right way but The tank will come off. Noel(Gixxer jockey) Gave you the info Just look at the stuff. and make sure it goes back on the same way. Its not surgery.

who does installs around central mass that won't cost me a ton of money?
Def dont try this on your own. Not trying to flame, but if you can't look around and find the bolts to get a tank off you dont want to be splicing into you electrical system. you have an offer...its worth the drive, bergs knows what he's doing. Any shop worth going to will charge you a good amount...and as PK says, if you can't afford to do it right how are you going to afford to do it over. Words of wisdom.
Now go find that blender:
Supa Motarded! If you see me backin it in, keep watching...Im about to crash
