Not saying he shouldn't have a 1k, just saying that an 18 year old on a 1k is most likely a bad idea. Proven by his accident, I hope the boy heals up good and gets himself a manageable bike to truly learn how to ride on.

OR take his now scratched up 1000rr to the track and let Tony show him how to ride it!

Stopped in Libby's the other day before class down the street and there was a young kid in there (g/f or sister in tow?) and dad was talking w the salesman about what would be a good bike for the kid.. Gotta hand it to the salesman cause the kid was deadset on some sport-monster R1 or something equally deadly (for a kid not even old enough to be buyin his own sh!t..) and dad was asking about a Triumph Daytona 675 and R6 and saying "What about this one, or this one?" and the saleman just kinda shrugged his shoulders and said "Honestly, anything at this end of the room is an EXPERT level bike. I'll sell you what you want, but probably not great first bikes for a kid."
