I am interested in becoming a MSF RidersCoach. I like long hours, short pay, and a kick in the balls at the end of the day. I think I will fit right in...
I thought of doing this last year but never followed through with it, I was a bit busy, you could say...
Now I'd like to do it this year, if possible, If anyone is looking for a new guy to add to the class.
Is there a Class or Test I need to take or do you have to get "Sponsored" by another coach to do this?
I live close the the RI/MA line so I would be willing to do either state's curriculum if not BOTH. Looking to get my foot in the door right now if possible.
Willing to work for free, This is more of a "Pay it foreward" thing for me. If there is pay, I will be happy to take it, BUT NOT NECESSARY~
Sick of seeing all the NooB's out there with no clue and IF there is a small chance I can help someone out there all the better! I always thought it felt good to watch someone you teach something and they do it correctly.
Ever since hitting the track I have been thinking of trying to become an instructor of some sorts, I love the track, riding with friends, and teaching. I'd LOVE to help at any of the TD's Org.'s we all love riding with, but in this economy I doubt there is much room for organizations to NEED any more coaches.
This leads me to the next best thing...Working with NooB's. Try and get them involved with the right organizations and give them a fighting chance on the streets.
So who has some information they would like to share? Good or Bad.
Thanks in Advance!![]()
Here's a couple of links to some local schools.

You do need to be sponsored by one of the schools to go through the instructor training.
You had to pay for the training too.

I went through the RiderCoach Workshop a couple years ago through Ironstone. Joe's a good guy.
Jane, Ken, Degsy, Paul, Superdave, Csmutty, and so on and so on... There's a whole ton of us on here that are RiderCoaches.
It's fun but it's definitely a big commitment and there's a LOT to learn.

Are there any Handouts, Books, or such online (or I can buy) so I can get the jump on learning most of this stuff? Being Winter I have A-Lot of free time right now.
Even my track bike rebuild is ahead of schedule....this NEVER happens...LOL
Thanks Pete!

Did you take the MSF BRC? You could study that as it is primarily what you will be teaching.

Not really. It might be written somewhere that you do, but not many people go through the BRC again before the RiderCoach Workshop.
I did it back in 2001, then did a shaddow session with Degsy at Bunker Hill, then went and took the workshop.
Here's some good info

True but you can take the ARC prior to the rider coach as well.
If he has taken the BRC those books would be good to study. Those and the range cards if he can get his hands on a set.
Edit: Pete is right. You don't NEED to take the course, you just need to pass a BRC test at a higher standard.

Looks like I will be signing up for there first course this year then. I've never taken the course so this will be a good stepping stone for me.
I have taken the Total Control ARC I & Penguin race School, That is about it. I am THAT GOOD!!!!
I KId...I Kid... We all know I am NOT!
I will be sending an email out to Joe At IronStone shortly. I want to have all my ducks in a row & at least sound like I have a clue of what I am talking about when I email him. I will also be sending out Emails to other facilities to try and work my way in...
Getting the materials before hand helps, but some of that shit is like frikkin Greek at first. Especially the diagrams on the range cards.
My best suggestion is take a current RiderCoach out to lunch and go over the stuff together.
I met up with with Jane one afternoon before the workshop and it was a huge help.

Is this your way of asking me on a date?.... Will the Goatee be present?
I'd be willing to buy lunch for that...
I don't mind taking a class, I actually like taking them. I always seem to find SOMETHING I do wrong or at least could do Better.
I see Biggles lurkin![]()

Eric, if you wanna meet up somewhere closer to Boston I'd gladly meet up with ya, but there's other NESR members that are closer to ya and would be less outta your way.
Lemme know, I got all the stuff from my class.

haha, yeah I am lurking.
Best decision I ever made to become a coach. I was actually a range-aid for a whole summer prior to going into the program. Really helped me out as I knew range set up and coach locations prior to the workshop.
Biggles, will you be my date to the RiderCoach Update?

So should I be looking into becoming a Range Aid? Is this how you usually get started in all this?
Eboose... Wouldn't that be a sight to see?![]()
