As the title says, I'm wondering who on NESR ride Gen II Tuonos? I am in love with them on paper and really drawn to the standard/hooligan type bikes. Basically the typical questions...
How do you find it riding around town? Longer distance?
How's the power and reliability?
Just want to gather some info on what seems like a kickass bike.
I've got one - very happy with it.
Why don't you just stop in to the shop and take one out for a test ride?![]()
the only normal people are the ones you don't know very well.
TuonoMark has one... its b0rk3d half the time![]()
Original
Don't tempt me! Maybe I could use the SV and the Tuono to hold up a tarp so I can live under that and afford both bikes?
Hehe I'm kind of in the same boat..I have an SV1kS and love it, but I've recently been growing quite fond of the standard nakids. Can't have both though!
Too cool for sigs.
1st gen is way more sexier lookin & more brutal to ride
The 2nd gen is UUUUUglee and a wimpier bike, even though it has a couple more rwhp
Seriously though, both are great bikes. I just love my 1st gen.![]()
Once I find a money tree I'm gonna start slowly turning it into one baaaad mamma jamma!

I want the 2nd gen with a 15 tooth![]()
just a 15 tooth? That's it? Pssh, wutevs... It won't stop there, trust me.
Current config: 15 tooth front, Factory Pro chip, de-restricted airbox intake boot, Akra slip-on, dark smoke Skidmarx windscreen.
Future config: PCIII (in my garage) Carbon, carbon everywhere (already begun), 54 or 57mm TB's, 1060 kit, OZ Factory wheels, full dual Akra system w/ a pair of Ti Mivv cans, Ohlins front & rear and more.

Seriously though...who rides one of these bad boys
Not many people.... TuonoMark & Patricia are the only two on this board that I can think of off the top of my head.
You'll find PLENTY of info on the Aprilia board though.

Wooooord...pretty much what my 03 MilleR has on her, but a full duel TI Akra system.
The motor in Gen I and II are amazing, and there are LOTS for sale on the aprilia forum all the time. Hands down the best mix of sport and comfort that I have ever experienced. I don't have near as much real world exp as Pete and Patricia...def. go ride her's if she is offering!

Hey Hauptman,
I had an 07' but just sold it so that I could do some longer sport touring this summer. Around town it is fine, so long as you go with the 15t front. Without it, first gear is very long. The power was fantastic, and useable. I have to say that it is the best handling bike I've ever owned, and I've owned a "few". It is actually okay on the highway so long as you don't plan on riding it for extended periods in that manner. After about 30 minutes or so on the highway, I would have enough. If you are going to ride it around town and in the hills through the twisties most of the time, you'll love it.

The Tuono is a great bike. I have had mine for two years now and there have been zero issues..... Ok there was the lady that ran it over but that wasn't the bikes fault!!!
You really can't find a better package. As long as you get an 07.5 or newer you get the full RSVR engine, so you'll never want for more power. I broke mine in with the 16T front sprocket and then switched to a 15T, Leo exhaust, and Map 2 on the ECU and it was a completely different bike.
If you are serious about the Tuono take a ride over to Seacoast, you won't find a better Aprilia dealer anywhere!
This thread is crazy dated, but I have a gen II and love it. 15t sprocket really brings it to life and now I am looking for cans to put on there. Extremely fun and great handling bike. Did you ever end up getting one???
Pete what mods did you end up doing to yours?

I have a new 2010 factory and so far i have 21 miles on it!
Full akrapovic system
map#2
15 tooth sprocket
woodcraft sliders and swingarm/axle
fender eliminator.
first ride was just awesome but i can't really report anything yet. It's whole different feel compared to my inline 4 on my Concours 14.
I love it so far.
I bought this about 6 weeks ago but have only done 35 miles but I can tell you it is very light and being a 1K motor very powerful as well. Jury is still out as to what I prefer, the rush of my Modded I4 FZ1 or the V twins powerplant. I certainly like the sound of the twin with Leo Vince's W/O baffles![]()
