Concussion or head injury
Broken ribs
Broken collarbone
Broken appendage (foot, leg, arm, wrist etc)
spinal injury
Hey folks- doing some research and thought a poll may help me out in my inquiries. Whether you personally have been injured or you know of someone, or just the general talk you hear: what do you perceive as the most common riding/racing related injury? Thanks for your responses!

my search is based mostly on fractures/breaks, but feel free to post what you consider the most common injury below if it is not represented in the poll as well.

I've sustained a crap-ton of injuries, but no real repeats... only real 'pattern' is OUCH! : )
Road only? Or dirt too?

Broke my left collar on the street a couple years ago.
Meowkay... Then 2 broken ankles and a broken hand. The hand and one ankle injury happened at the same time. High speed head on in the woods coming around a blind corner. Second broken ankle happened when I rode off a 12' cliff. That was a big oops. Both while wearing full motox gear.

Separated shoulder and crushed pinky finger (which required two surgeries). You never know how useful the pinky finger is until you aren't permitted to use it for a month or two.

Out of my 8 crashes (2 track, 6 street, none racing) I've only had a some minor rashing, sore muscles, and a decent concussion.
Lucky.
Good luck with your research!

How about destroyed egos?
Well out of all my dirt crashes and my one roadbike crash, I'd say my pride was hurt the most! Several offroad crashes that I'm not proud of..but knock on wood, no broken bones.

A brief summary of the findings is listed below. To order the full report, contact:

this is a pretty well known source. Call them up, chat, they may point you to other directions etc.
I don't know if these guys estimate actual vs. reported, since there are quite a few accidents that never get reported for various reasons.
I think I hear collar bone and wrist the most with spinal injuries close behind.
Personally:
Street accident ribs and 2 disks in my spine. never any rash.
Loudon racing wrist and ribs never any rash.
