Damn, that sucks. I knew he bashed it up pretty good and needed immediate surgery, but I didn't think he'd lose it.

I wonder if we're going to see a new wave of gloves that link the pinky & ring fingers together.
I know there are several high end gloves that started doing this recently.
Really sucks.. even for him it seems like a very freak accident. But still - hand/wrist injuries seem too common and it's about time someone figures out some new way to offer greater wrist protection.. it'd be interesting to see someone come out with a wrist guard similar to what's used in snowboarding/rollerblading but yet preserves the ability to have fine throttle control.
And you could probably already use the existing wrist protection designs in the left glove.
A man who has nothing for which he is willing to fight, nothing which is more important than his own personal safety, is a miserable creature and has no chance of being free unless made and kept so by the exertions of better men than himself. - John Stuart Mill
A carpenter cuts off his finger on a table saw and goes to the hospital to have it looked at. The doctor says "It's too far gone we can't save it". So they close up the wound and the carpenter calls his wife:
"Honey I had an accident at work today and cut off my finger."
"The whole finger?" she asks.
"No. no. The one next to it."
Hole Finger? I get it...![]()

"Thomas said Bayliss had wanted to saddle up again for the second race but the team refused on medical advice because of the possibility of an infection."
Now that is a racer. Hurry up and lop it off Doc, I got a race to get back to.
Did you see this too? From superbikeplanet.com
Man, costly fall !
"During the crash Troy had also received a powerful blow in the groin region and due to concerns, specialists at the Derby hospital also carried out checks in that area before giving him the OK to leave."
A few years ago Dale Quarterly did the same thing to his pinky. The Doctor said we can fix it and you'll miss several races, or I can close it up and you can race tomorrow. Dale said "I looked at my brother, looked at the doctor and said 'Doc, bust out the Ginsue!'" now I call him "Dale 9 and a Quarterly"
I busted mine last year. Hurt for quite a while but healed straight. Now it's got a good lump in it. Sewing the fingers together sounds like a good idea, I might try it on an old pair.

After I broke my foot and fucked up my back, shoulder and hip real bad highsiding coming out of T2 in Sept., I remounted that afternoon to go get me some. I could barely even walk and I actually needed help to get on the bike for that race (thank you Scott) but hey, there's no room in the paddock for pussies.

i could be mistaken, but I think kushitani makes a glove that does exactly that.

When I was a kid and heavy into sports, taping our outter two fingers together was a very common practice. Especially in sports where your hands were vulnerable. I used to do it playing football and baseball when batting...
I haven't really thought about it much 'til reading this here. But now that I think about it, I'm suprised it's taken this long for a glove manufacturer to come up with this...
Did you grit your teeth and try to look like Clint Fuckin' Eastwood?
Or did you lisp it all hangfisted like a fuckin' flower?
that blows i like my pinky finger
I keep meaning to duct tape my pinky and ring together.
