Last Saturday at C128 with a friend who used to work there, struck up a convo with a nice guy and former customer of my friend's who had a new Sprint ST. Long story short, he offered me the chance to take it for a spin. I said no at first because I was gearless (came in truck) and didn't want to wad up someone else's bike. Two minutes later I was in helmet, jacket gloves and feathering out the clutch....
WOW what a beautiful motorcycle. The sound of the triple is to die for, He had a factory performance exhaust on it, the sound of the bike sounded more like an exotic sports car to me than a bike, it was just incredible. Brake lever feel was extremely soft, which was a bit concerning. The bike felt very light once underway.
I'd love the chance to ride one again, especially under more spirited conditions that don't include impending fear of trashing someone else's bike![]()

I've heard those triples are.
I know a little about everything, and alot about nothing.
Nice! Owning a VFR, I'd obviously love to ride a ST. That 1000cc triple must be awesome.

Did you ever get to ride one before you tried to make the deal on one some time ago?Originally posted by Half Squid

No but every review I read spoke very highly about it. Not one rider had anything bad to say.Originally posted by ancosta

Like I said in post it was a very modest ride down the road, so "needs more data" regarding handling but it does make a very tidy u-turn.Originally posted by Half Squid

It was my first time riding something other than my SV since learning to ride. I was expecting the front wheel to magically loft with the extra 400cc's
One other thing the owner said that the bike wasn't running right, it had slight misses after being started, he attributed it to running lean after the factory exhaust mod. I would be suprised if the ECU couldn't adjust for the aftermarket pipe. Maybe a gremlin within the factory ECU regadless of pipe? Either way it screwed!

Everything sounds amazing and exotic compared to the ubiquitous inline 4 these days.
Hearing the Brutale last week.. yay it's exotic but it sure doesn't sound it due to the engine configuration.
You definitely need a ECU reflash if you put the factory performance pipes on it... my roommate put them on his speed triple and it backfired like crazy till he got it reflashed. BUT Triumph is very cool and will apparently reflash for free.
