That is so cool, I always thought rotaries would make an awesome bike powerplant. Now where are the specs?

It's not new but it sure is sexy. Word is they're gonna make a small production of them in the US. Something like 200 or less.

The quoted displacement of all rotaries is actually half of their real displacement. So a 588cc engine is really an 1166cc one. This because they each rotor fires once per revolution where as a piston four stroke is once every other rev. Don't know how that practice ever got started or why it still continues. Cool none the less though.

actually, I think it's 3 times per revolution, each rotor = 3 cylinders

I'm willing to bet that it's a BIG GAS PIG

    Re: New Rotary powered Norton

I worded that wrong- there is one combustion event per rotor per revolution of the crank. The rotor spins at 1/3 the crank speed.

You don't call 125 two strokes 250 for that reason though... so why would you make the Wankel use a different rule? : )

    Yes

I was hoping for a side port direct injection otherwise I don't think it would pass any emission tests.

One of my passing mental fantasies was an R8 motor in a gold wing

5 years ago I rebuilt an old Suzuki Rotary for grins. It was a 1/2 assed attempt at a rotary. Norton the old co,mpany was playing with one right before they went under.
