I want to check a Bike VIN to make sure it isn't reported stolen.
degs
That's fine. if it's stolen I will gladly give it to the police to get it off my property.
I may just trailer it to the pound and have the police theck there.
derek
Degs- PM me the VIN.

What is 'it'?
Did you grit your teeth and try to look like Clint Fuckin' Eastwood?
Or did you lisp it all hangfisted like a fuckin' flower?
The CBR600RR that has been in my garage for 8 months with no contact from the owner. it only has 300 miles on it. I was doing some repairs on it and I gave him the bill and I have heard nothing from him since and I wanted to know if he had "lost" it for insurance money.

I'm thinking that the registry or police should be able to provide the owner's info to you, so odd that someone would leave a bike like that with ya...must be a rich guy...

Or the finance company is looking for it currently. Im sure the guy just isnt going to leave it forever, if he is making payments on it. And I guess you could be right, he maybe rich, and just dont feel like picking up his 8K bike.Originally posted by kmobrien76

Here we go. first degsy, you need to put a mechanics lien on it then give the owner another chance to pay up. then notify the owner it will be put up for auction if he doesnt come forward and pay. After that you need to put notice in the papaer stating auction terms (I think you need to advertise in 3 papers) then you can sell it for the repair bill.
You suck at life. Why don't you quit?
My dad told me I could be anything I wanted when I grew up. So I became an Asshole.

It being a private matter between two friends, the laws that you are speaking of dont apply. He does need to give the bike's owner some sort of public notice that the bike is going to be converted; it really depends on the civil laws in the state he lives in.
If the owner of the bike does indeed still have a lien on it, then the bank's lien on it will have priority over repairs because it was placed on the bike first, and is for substantially more money.
Long story short: you should consult a lawyer down there and see what the proper way to go about this is.
Good luck!![]()

Maybe the dood died.
Storage for cars is around $40 bucks a day. I think you could swing $25 a day for a bike.
