I've been thinking about luggage a lot lately. I intend to do some traveling this summer. One of the things I'm looking at is the Aerostich Tank Panniers. The seem like they would keep the weight central and I could spread it out a bit between the tail and front of the bike to keep it balanced.
I got tired of fueling with a tank bag, having to lift it off, esp. large bags. Having 2 compartments seems good too instead of having to rummage through one big tank bag. They are pretty cheap, as far as luggage goes, and I am pretty sold on Aerostich quality, to the point of looking like an Aerostich poster child.
I can't really think of a downside but would be interested to hear others thoughts on this.
Thanks

Nothing a decent sized tail bag couldn't handle.
Seems somewhat intrusive.....then again, what do they look like mounted?
A tail pack would get in the way of a passenger. I carry one quite a bit, so again it means on and off. with it. I just want to leave something on, somehting I could put groceries in.
I'd rather have something low and in front than high and in the back The bags are not supposed to get in the way of your knees.
I'm going to get them and will report back laster.

Perhaps if you hauled a bunch of pry bars in one side, and lightbulbs in the other, you could counter the effects or premature tire wear due to crowned road surfaces?
