Scooter commuters

There was another topic on here about people getting back to riding after years away from it and with old equipment.

I started to post on how people would change there habits with thinking about using scooters and smaller cc motorcycles to commute, believing they will start to do the "safety in numbers" by scooter pooling.

I wonder if gas goes towards $5/gal what changes we will see. I think at some point we may see the break-down lane, or something else pop up as being used by scooters and smaller cc motorcycles for those commuters that have a long ride and don't want to do the whole thing on backroads.

Being in the northeast, I don't know if we are going to see the commute start to look like all bikes riding around in china, but that may happen in states down south where they can get away with it with good weather all year.

are we going to start seeing Ruckus and such with luggage bags?

We're gonna see a lot of people on scooters get absolutely fucked up in Boston traffic, since none of them can ride the damn things, and gear is non-existant.

The scooter people are pretty scary, on the way to the last pose (was there one last night) there was a woman in front of me with a scooter (her hair looked like your avatar...) anyway, even with that little scooter she weaved all through kenmore towards MA ave, F-ing oblivious to her surroundings. You can fit three of those things across in a lane, with room, and she couldn't stay in her's. I stayed back till she finally made a left turn as I had a feeling she would cause an accident and just keep driving off.

i live in boston, and i always see scooters. i live at kenmore square, and they're doing a ton of construction there and the roadway is all chewed up, and i always see scooters zipping across. what is the deal with the scooter laws? i saw a totally drunk dude try to get on his scooter after drinking. he knocks it over and stumblingly (yea, i made upt hat word) picks it back up and drives off before anyone could stop him. are there drunk driving laws against people on scooters? can a cop pull him over, because he doesn't have a license plate on it? i guess he could run, and have a sick 30mph chase. do they have to wear a helmet? i saw some lady on one with a dress, blouse, and a bicycle helmet... meanwhile i'm sweating it out in jeans, mesh armored jacket, helmet, and gloves... at least i'll have my skin... very sweaty, smelly skin... with a mystery rash...... and weird birth marks....

IM amazed the scooter was IN a lane, usually they're splitting lanes all while swerving in the 2 feet of space they have.
And you can get a DUI on a motorized wheelchair (check the news it happened the other day) so you could on a scooter if they catch you.

Yesterday I passed a scooter on I-89 up here riding 2 up at about 45 - looked like they already had it flat out. I can only imagine how that thing climbs the hills - talk about an ugly accident waiting to happen.

I'm all for scooters, high milage, etc - but Christ people use some common sense...

Drunk driving laws apply to any motorized vehicle. When my mom was a public defender, she had a client who was arrested for DUI because he was mowing his lawn drunk on a riding lawn mower. Tough break!

the only thing you cant a deewee on is an animal. they have a mind of their own. so if you decide to take your horse, goat, sheep, elpaka, whatever you may have, to the bar, you can get home without worries

i went to boot camp with a fellow from paducha, ky that got a dui on horse. riding from one party to the next with saddlebags full of beer and ice. this same fellow lost his pet goat while tailgating at a collage football game.
