Granted i have some previous experience with a bike, but I don't see why every1 says that a GSXR600 doesnt make a good first bike.

The most important thing about a 'first' bike is RESPECT, especially with something like that. Never, and I mean NEVER disrespect what that bike brings to the table. ANYTHING has the potential to be a 'good first bike', so long as you keep your skills in check...
Did you grit your teeth and try to look like Clint Fuckin' Eastwood?
Or did you lisp it all hangfisted like a fuckin' flower?
its your wrist on any bike. just stay focused take it easy & slow they r better first bikes thoe .......btw dont take it past your skills stay away from guys who rip around ... yep you got a quick bike dat gsxr taint like a fast cage though .....1 hot corner can kill you on any bike ......................................................... you sure will b growing in 2 that 600 for some time 2 come. practice practice then more practiceif you was my kid i tell ya 2 get a 250 or 500 better 2 lern on

I personally don't fall into the 'smaller bikes are better starters' theory. My first streetbike was a GPz 750, and it served me well for over two years. Never had much of an incident with it. As I've said, as long as you don't lose respect for the power you'll have at your fingertips, you should be good for a coupla years with it. If not, more...
Just DON'T ride over your head, and DON'T try to push the limits of the bike. The bike has a ton more than you'll use, don't test that...![]()

Contrary to everything I've said, I DO NOT feel that an R1 or a Gixxer 1K, or just about ANY other open classer would be a good beginner bike...

How about V-Twins.... Something like an Aprillia RSV Mille

Any bike will kill you, no matter if it is a 200, 600, 750, or 1k. I recommend you take the MSF riders course to learn about safety. The newer bikes are so powerful and light you can be tossed off in a second. Also be careful around turns because that is where most people get in trouble. Do not worry about the motor, instead sit on a bunch of different bikes and get one that feels comfortable for your frame. My first bike was a TL1000R and I survived but that was because I was responsible and rode within my limits.
Now if I could only find a bike that was fire proof.

My first bike was a GSXR 600. That was the first bike that I have ever rode. I learned how to ride on it. I took my MSF course about 8 months later and got my license.
I love the bike...I still own it.
