Dennis Kirk has a great deal on certain rf-1000 helmets ($161) but they only have size xx-small and I wear a small.
I noticed though that the xx-small uses a 39mm pad and so does the small. So this must mean the xx-small has a smaller shell size. Do you think I could put 35 or 31mm pads in it or will it not be safe? It'd make a great back-up helmet if it works.
Nevermind. I just went to order one and they are sold out.
You can order the thinner pads. I can't remember the cost. The ones that came in my "M" size were pushing my cheeks in far too much. This is my fourth Shoei, and I've never had pads that painful. It was nice to have the option to change them.
Yes, you can buy replacement cheek pads of different sizes.
