Old school mechanic, a shitload of old bikes, and Marb' Reds?? That guy's my hero. lol
Awesome video, and he's right. I'm 19, so I guess that makes me a member of the current generation, and I don't know many of my peers that I can walk up to and say "Hey, what's your opinion on oil brands?", and have them have even the fainest clue what the different types of oil are (if this forum is anything like VFRD or VFRW, you'll know what I mean when I say "what oil is best" discussions never end well).

Hah, bro you're on one of the fave bikes I never owned. Had a VF 500 but instead of the Interceptor 7 I went with the F-Zed 1986. What year is yours like an '88? My buddy had the green-blue one!

I mentioned on another thread this guy was my housemate, Lajos Silberstein.... he was also Dave Sadowski's mechanic during the Daytona days. Old skewl Ducati and Alfa guy beyond compare, they would hire him to check the Ferrari 360 World Cup cars I would drop him off at the airport with his little black bag, mostly he used a stethoscope with a prodder on it. Said he was checking engines but OTOH we both were perverts... LOL.

Awesome short. I absolutely agree with him, I think we are losing our "can do" attitude. Nobody seems to care about anything. How stuff works, or why it works, or how to fix it. They just assume get another one or have somebody else fix it. I'm constantly frustrated when I observe this in society. By no means do I think I'm the most capable mechanic, craftsman, businessman, etc... but I am always questioning why things are the way they are, and I think that's the point Adam is trying to make.

Turbocharged, I totally agree with you man. Nevermind opinion on oil brands, I bet I don't have 5 friends that change their own oil (..or could for that matter). Just seems to be the direction were headed, service oriented, outsourcing in a sense.

I know and it is part of a total desensitization to real tactile things and issues brought on or at least augmented by your and my friend the computer.... which we are using right now, LOL. I look forward to learning my new bike I haven't paid for an oil change outside of a clutch replacement since before I can remember.

Haha, I had an '86 VF500F, which I traded for an '88 CBR600F. My VFR is an '86 VFR700F2. Love my old Hondas. lol
It's old and beat, but it runs like a top, even in the winter. It's due for a complete overhaul (carbs, forks, brakes, fluids, chain, valve adjustment, etc.), and you can bet I'll be doing it myself.

That's either an old photo, or a VERY well cared for bike.

Yep and don't forget the big and little brothers now that BMW has a 6 in the mix.
And my Suzuki 550 ES would eat that Interceptor up on top but about even in the city but you had to wring it more.

    yup.

You can probably reach him through his unbelievably narcissistic blog site.

I won't link you to it, so google search "Chris King's First Amendment Page".

Love the old Honda pics. In 1983 I knew two guys who had CB1100F. One drag races his and the other was a former yosh endurance bike. He totaled it at an AAMRR race at the old Bryar. Someone saved a piece of the carb. Too bad they only made that 1100F one year.
