I’m looking a for a Tail Bag for my 09 Kawasaki ninja. Headed to the Lakes region on the 20th for a week and need to get a tail bag or something that will serve the same purpose without sifting etc. Any suggestion???
I used the search feature already and only saw a few for sale a while back, which are gone. I apologize if I missed something else out there.
Thanks in advance!![]()

I really liked my cortech sport. My friend who "borrowed" it uses it every day![]()

do you have the saddle bags with it or just the tail bag? and will the tail bag alone hold a week of stuff?

I have a set of cortech sport saddle bags, not yet willing to part with my briefcase, I mean tail bag. But I don't need the saddle bags anymore. I have the smaller tail bag and I don't think it would hold a week's worth of stuff but some pack lighter than others. I was going to wait and sell all three as a set since the all go together nicely, but if you are in desperate need and interested in the saddles let me know. If I could find an alternative for carrying my office crap, I'd sell the whole set.
Im actually very light packer.... especially considering summer clothes dont take up too much room![]()

I use one by Oxford it can be either a tail bag or tank bag, it just uses two different bases depending on where you want to put it. It does expand but i don't know if you can get a week's worth out of it. Definately not if you are doing any camping. Here are a couple of pics I could find on the web:
no camping... the Fam has a house on Paugus Bay. So I wont be bringing anything heavy except one sweatshirt. Looking at your pic, all my stuff would easily fit in the saddle bags and a back pack or that middle bag I think.

What's everything? Everything my wife would need, absolutely not. Everything I would need for a week staying in hotels and not camping, yeah, probably. The sport saddles are not huge. They are cut angular to sit above the pipes and that takes down the capacity a bit. You could easily mount the saddles and then sit a back pack across them and strap it down.
Where are you? You can come by and look at them or I could drag them to work if that would make it easier. I'm out near leominster and work in north andover. If you really need the tail bag too, I could find a way to strap down my work bag, probably better for the computer anyway. One of the expander zippers on the tail bag broke though. Not a big deal, the thing doesn't hold crap with it closed anyway. The tail bag and saddles have clips so they all work together when installed. It's a pretty nice set up.
Maybe this will work with your Cortech saddlebags??

From the description, it sounds like it has the integral quick release clips, but don't know. Given its cortech, it probably does. They usually keep their designs pretty universal to all the components.
I have the Cortech Sport Tailbag with the sidebags and they can fit a lot. With just the tailbag, I fit enough for a 5 day trip in it.
I have the Cortech Sport also. My problem is that every time I go to use it I put in rain gear, a slime compressor and a pair of sneakers. Just those items really fill it up. Sneakers take up way too much space. After that I'd be lucky to get one change of clothes in there. I actually have the saddlebags too but have never used them because I just cram the tailbag as full as I can and make do. The only problem I had with it on my zx6r is that as you go over bumps it slides forward and hits me in the butt. I ended up putting the front bungees through the passenger strap on the seat before hooking them to the foot pegs to stop that.
When I pack mine, I used pack Vans slip-ons for sneakers, they seem to be the most compact. I also pack soft items like clothes in the bigger ziplock freezer bags and squeeze the air out of them, that also helps if it rains. I lost my rain cover for mine the first time I put it on.

It doesn't sound like you need a ton of room but I bought this tail bag from Twisted Throttle:

I've used it on a few roadtrips and it fits my bike no problem (FZ6 but it looks like yours is on the list too), the only semi-permanent install is a pair of small straps screwed into your license plate holder. It fits a decent amount and if you ever get into bike camping, there is an optional tent bag that can clip in on top.
Enjoy your vacation, I used to go up to Meredith every summer when I was a kid... such a good time.

I have had the original bag for 25 years and 5 bikes
Just bought the new bracket with the new bike about $150 PER BIKE

I bought this because my Monster has a small tail section. This should work for a week. If you want to try it you are welcome to and if you like it you can buy it from Motorcycle Superstore where I bought it from. I like that it is narrow andthe base has a small foot print.
I've always liked the Wolfman gear. Tough, modular, and easy to install / remove.
I bought a tank bag, tail bag, and saddle bags (high mount pipe style) back in 1999 when I owned a Honda Superhawk. I still have everything today and it's worked well on every bike since - including a Multistrada and my current Hypermotard.
