In Mass, passing on the right is illegal even if ya got a moron in the passing lane going slow. But I've been pulled over for going with the flow of traffic, traveling in the center lane to bypass said moron. I explained it to the Officer that I was going with the flow of traffic and the moron shouldn't have been in the passing lane at the speed he was at and got let go.

BUT one thing that royaly pisses me off is people that use the breakdown lane when traffic is backed up. I don't know how many times I've almost taken off the nose of peoples cars with my fire truck that get that lame-brained idea when I'm trying to get to a wreck or car fire on the pike.
he was cruising the break down lane
he showed his badge i still was sweering & giving the finger
the others in the car look with they mouths open

    from the mass drivers manual:

On roadways with two or more lanes in your travel direction, use the RIGHT lane for driving unless...
    -you are passing another vehicle
    -the right lane is blocked
-you are making a left turn
Got that? The middle lane is not the travel lane!

Right. It is used for passing when there is slower traffic in the right lane merging onto the highway. So clearly the right lane is not the passing lane. Thanks for pointing that out.

UUUMMMMMMM.........Look farther down on the page you linked to:

    Quote:
"If you are traveling on an
expressway with three lanes, treat the far
right lane as a slower-speed through lane,
the middle lane as a faster through lane, and
the far left lane as the passing lane."

So the middle IS a travel lane. Or as they put it, a through lane.

    RIGHT ON !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That manual isn't written real well.
Its generalized and for the masses.

Try to find the Class "M" restrictions with regards to time of day, etc.
The state permit exam asked me there was a midnight (dark) resistriction on a "M" permit. Now, if you have a drivers license already there's no restriction as your grandfathered in. One criteria supercedes another "restriction." But the test is looking for that midnight as the right answer. Why?

Because if you look deeper, you have to have a drivers license (starting at age 15 1/2) a year before you can apply for a motor cycle permit.
Now most of us are older than that when we go for a "M" endorsement so following the rules to a "T" doesn't always apply to you. The books written for first timers 15 1/2 - 17 years of age.....most of whom spend half their first year under the permit rules and status.

Where is the no riding down the middle of two lanes? It was in a manual I saw ten years ago.
Where is the minimum distance for your headlight to shine? 115 feet as of a decade ago............I cann't find these in the manual (at least the .pdf online one)

MY FAVORITE: why shouldn't you pull out in front of a truck then slow down? Me:"cuz he'll FLATTEN YOU?................ " Answer: Because a car or truck takes 4x the distance to stop than a bike does............" don't worry I took the "A" for the team on that one.
Slide rule time................................. I'm on a Game show:
"Alex.............. What's is common sense and SPEAKING MY FUCKIN MIND?
I'll take local strip joints for $400..........................................."

Also, if you answer 14 out of 15 questions right the machine grades you as "pass" 70%...........
    Interpretation my friends.........................

damn, suf, you been studying beetonics?

when i took my M-class permit test, about 50% of the questions were about the penalties for drug & alcohol use (hint: it's always the worst one), 25% general rules of the road, and 25% motorcycle-related.

    real helpful.

The cat's out of the bag

I took the permit test Friday 3/12 AGAIN for the fourth time.
I though they lasted six months........she said I already had a valid permit, but it expired this week so I retook it.
