While accurate, colloquially I think people subscribe to supercharger = centrifugal / blower = positive displacement / turbo = turbo.

True, true, but centrifugal super chargers and turbos share design elements all but for what drives them, belt vs. exhaust gasses. Centrifugal superchargers and Roots style superchargers share almost nothing incommon, but what drives them, a belt.

I would disagree. They are similar in that they both use a "similar" compressor wheel but that is about it. Housings, gear drive, lubrication and actual out put all differ. To say they differ only in drive is an over simplification.

They both "blow" air into the intake. I actually always think of "blowers" as the huge super-chargers that come through the hood and have the scoop intake on a muscle car....but thought the fact that I described the picture correctly as a turbo would allow me to use the slang in reference to it.

Yeah, we served our engineering apprenticeships together. Jack held the world wheelie record for a while but had a bad crash at the IOM doing a stunt show, he set up Holeshot when he recovered but has raced everything, He still holds a number of European and possibly some world records.
Top guy, when I last spoke to him he was building a V8 busa twin turbo for some guy in Michigan. I am in the UK in a few weeks and will catch up with him then, like I said, if you need anything, just ask!
