Man, Spies qualified 8th in his first Moto GP outing on
the Rizla Suzuki ahead of Hopkins, Melandri, Lorenzo...
Pretty frikkin amazing I have to say... its always hard to know
how they all compare till they go head to head but in the top
ten his first time is impressive dont ya think?
2008 Honda CBR 600RR
yeah, i heard he hadn't ridden the bike or been on the circuit before until practice/qualifying
hurray, strikethrough!
...adventure timeadventure time...adventure time...adventure time
Anyone know his lap times? How close were his best laps to the top 5? I guess his best lap time came in the 21st lap or so...

WTF??!!?! Why did he suck so bad in the actual race? I guess it must have been because qualifying was in the rain? Or maybe its just different when your on the track with other bikes around? After all Spies is used to being WAY out in front.
MotoGP qualifying is with other riders out there. The teams go all-out to get one good fast lap in. Use different tires etc. going for that one fast lap. It's harder stringing together a whole bunch of fast laps during the entirety of the race. I though Spies did great to finish where he did.

Spies has no real interest in doing anything other than show up and put in a few laps on a GP bike. His primairy interest is to be sure he wins the AMA Superbike championship...a freekin' gain...
He'd be an idiot to hurt himself in what is essentially a meaningless event...and he's no idiot!

ben did great, most rookies take a year or two to get up to speed and this is after a couple of good test sessions. rossi was in 11 125s races before he took a win. too bad the suzuki motogp bike of the last couple of years is basically a non-contender.
no doubt ben can ride a bike with the best in the world. you might even get to see him at assen this coming week.... if loris still bothered by his hand.
wierd thing is i'd heard the ben doesn't like to fly.....kinda funny for a bike racer.
He said post race that his best lap times were towards the end of the race where he finally started getting comfortable on the bike.
I hope Loris heals up, but I also hope we see Ben again at Assen.

Personally I think Spies will most likely make top 10 in Laguna.

They said Spies is gonna ride at Laguna. As far as him sucking...NO WAY, that is great finish for him. He's never ridden GP before!
2nd to last is good? Its only better then 2 other possible outcomes... dead last, or crashed out. I guess considering the best of them have crashed out he did well.
