any stands to stay away from?? or recommended for that matter

Looking for rear stand (maybe front too but probably not right now) and I want a good sturdy stand that isn't top of the line/high price. I also do not want the "deal of the day" that folds into a piece of shit. I saw some dmp on ebay for like 70-80 bucks and also saw HP stands for like 90 and figure one of these might do the trick.Hp Tools Rear Sport Stand - Uncategorized Online at MotoSport
I did a search and didn't see much so I figured I would ask people who may have dealt with a stand or two in their day, thanks.

you get what you pay for dude. everyone's gonna say pitbull or woodcraft. i ordered front & rear pitbulls over the phone & they shipped for free. check craigslist for someone that sold their bike & looking to get rid of their stands for cheap

depends what stands you want. I have the SS rear stands which are $10 more than the standard spooled stands. i thi2nk my SS stands were $155, and my front2 stand was $165. the front one i bought uses a pin in the upper triple to lift the bike. many people prefer these ones over the cheaper ones, because you can take the forks off with these stands

Pitbulls aren't cheap... but then again neither is a bike that cost thousands of dollars.

To me, stands are just something that is worth spending the money on.

sweet, thanks for the 411...thats a good point about the front that holds the triple clamp as well, probably well worth it incase you need to work on your front extensively/pull the legs.

I just went to the woodcraft site and noticed the rear spool stand is only 110, I thought I saw it was way more expensive before so that is very reasonable I think

I have a powerstands rear and a woodcraft front. The woodcraft quality is much better than the powerstands in my opinion.

I have a Pitbull forward handle rear stand

and a Woodcraft solo operation front stand.

Both are awesome and are extremely easy to operate if you don't have someone to help.

I picked up the front stand from Peter Kates at GMD in Bellingham, MA with the front pin and he gave me a great deal. It was actually less than I paid for the Pitbull.

You wont go wrong with either woodcraft or pitbull. We have woodcrafts at the shop and I have pitbulls for myself. Each has its benefits. The pitbull SS will do bikes with spools and without spools. I like that option better because I help out friends from time to time and they dont always have spools.

The woodcraft fronts are easier to swap pins on. Its a nice option. The woodcrafts also roll easier.

Ive seen what can happen when people buy the discount junk stands. One guy came crying because he bumped his bike and it fell off the stand. If he had spent the extra 100 or so to get good stuff he would have save a few 100 in repair costs.

I can bring it to the track to save you some gas. It is nothing great, I think it is an old Lockhart Phillips. I'll get a pic.

Honest it is Free! OK maybe a 6 pack of Guiness.

I had a terrible experience with Handy - wouldn't recommend their shit to anyone. Got a set for Xmas last year, one set of wheels wouldn't even touch the ground. Asked for a replacement, that sucked just as bad (after hounding the salesman for 4 months to get the f'n thing). The stuff is cheap, and there's a reason....It's all SHIT!

Go PitBull - I have 2 rearstands and 1 front stand from PitBull, they rock. Also have a T-rex front stand that's pretty good (and only $35 on ebay).

    Better than driving to Burlington.

Or you could pay the shipping cost and I will mail it.

ya I really appreciate it man, if you don't mind shipping let me know if you can get a figure and I'll throw you some extra dollars for your troubles. Also, does it work on spools?
I understand if you don't want to bother shipping ,so I could pick up a new one and you could hand it off to someone at the track that really needs it as well.

My handy stand will not lift the rear wheel of my EX500 off the ground. This makes it neither handy, nor really in fact a stand. Based on this, I would recommend handy stands to anyone who enjoys wasting money.
